"Zach!" I shouted as I walked back outside, I had heard a splash but it could have been one of thr land boys diving into the pool. But I realised nobody was around, I looked down at the pool and then I saw him. Swimming, in his blue tail that gleamed silver. It looked like mine, the same style and he swam how I swam.

With grace and having not a care in the world. But that's when he rose up and approached me, his arms hung over the edge of the pool, his hair soaked I took a step back when I saw him.

This was never part of the plan.

"Lyla I can explain!" He grasped.

I tried to act surprised, like I had never seen anything like it. But this was a land persons world, and telling Zach I was a mermaid could ruin my chances of getting that necklace "Nice......tail" I said smiling, but I tried to fold my arms looking surprised, yet I did not work.

"Il explain everything"

Zach and I had sat on a bench that looked out to the sea, everywhere was dark and half a moon was high in the sky. I looked up to it and prayed that it didn't have to be over yet but when Zach and I sat, he smiled at the ocean. Never taking his eyes off it.

"It only happened a few nights ago" Zach began "I went out late swimming just in my dads pool. When the full moon was high above me the water started to fizz, I didn't get out and my necklace was beaming. Something pulled me, and i knew that the necklace had changed me. But what I like about being a merman is I enjoy it"

I smiled "I'm sure you do, it must be terrific to swim. Being apart of the ocean, seeing perfectly clear and swimming for miles without needing to catch for your breath" I said Zach raised his eyebrows at what I and last said. I had made him suspicous.

"How do you know this?" He asked

"Oh just guessing" I laughed, he then fell for it giving a small laugh too "Do you like being a merman. Seeing as you used to do swimming, surely you must miss that?"

He shrugged, I looked back to the ocean. I missed being in the ocean, the longer I was here the longer I spent time with Zach. If I got this necklace and the last piece goodbye Zach and hello gilded world, I was afraid of getting attached to him and that was dangerous.

I looked behind me to see Shayla staring at us, folded arms and looked like she was going to explode, but now I just had to tell my friends that I now know that he is a merman. Coming from Zach's point "I'm just going to get some more fish, il be back" I said walking off.

Shayla stayed put, when I walked past her I said nothing. But she looked as if she was going to explode with anger, once I got back inside in the party I saw Echo with Ethan. Nixie talking to Luke the land boy , Celeste with her best friend Charlotte and Addison, Maya and Melody talking to some of the swimming boys.

I walked around, I had needed to breathe and find some place to just relax. But in a party crowded with land people that was very hard.

I came to some stairs, I walked up them trying to steady myself about what to do, the stairs were flat and hard. Footsteps were behind me, but i didn't care. I found myself then at a bunch of doors, I was all alone.

Well I thought I was alone.

I turned around to see the land boy Michael that winked at me. "Are you looking for somebody?' I asked walking backwards. He was soaking and wet, looked like he had just been in the pool with his shirt and shorts on.

Land boy Michael smiled and moved closer towards me "Actually I was looking for you. Ditch Zach, come party with me" He whispered in my ear, I shivered. Clueless land boys he was so close I could hear his breathing, he pushed me up against the wall and now I could not escape.

He touched my cheek, his hand was wet and thats when i needed to so desperately needed to escape "I need to go, to the latrines!" I said, i ducked under his arm and made a run for it to the door closest to me.

I opened the door quickly and then locked it, i was in a land persons bathroom. But i didnt have time to look, immediatly i turned into my mermaid self.
