The land boy kept going all the way to Merrow, until reaching the island only over 200ft from the island beach. We when the land boy dropped the anchor we watched it fall very close to a small coral reef, we rose up just before the boat hit our heads.

"Ready to have some fun?" Celeste asked. I nodded, we dived back into the water. The land boy but the string in the water with a small piece of bait attached to it, Celeste swam up to the string and started pulling on it. I smiled she slowly dragged the string towards me, I took hold and pulled it so hard the land boy nearly fell over.

We let go of the string and swam back a few metres and rose our heads out of the water and out of sight of the land boy. Celeste swam a metre closer to the boat, studying the boy "Oh my god" She said "that's Luke, Zachs best friend. What is he doing out here? Luke only goes fishing with Zach, but I can't see him"

I looked closer studying the land boy, he had blonde curly hair and was built to look as if he was a merman. We studied him, Luke put his rod to the side and a head raised out of the water. It was Zach "We didn't see Zach on the boat did we?" I asked.

Celeste stared, I dove under the water. With my clear vision under water I saw it perfectly, Zach had a tail. A dark blue and silver tail was swaying in the water, i stared for a minute then rose my head above the water.

"How is that even possible?" I asked, he was a land boy I was sure of it any way.

"It can't be!" She whispered "Zach is a lifeguard, he was a top surfer and is on the swim team. My mom was friends with his mom, I used to sit on the side of the pool and watch him swim. Is there another way a land boy can turn into a merman?"

I shook my head "A land boy can't turn into a merman, it's against our laws. If this gets out, we will be banished for even knowing. But we need to tell Aunt Rosa, and watch out for Zach" I watched Zach, his necklace was still there "And I think it is connected to the necklace"

We watched Zach swim, when he dove under the water we dove too. His was a excellent swimmer, he swam with grace his hands pointing straight in the motion every mer used to swim. I couldn't still talk under the water as my lungs could not cope with them being filled with air and water.

We could still breathe of course, but when we had to talk we rose above the water. And we did that several times "From now on, we have to keep our eyes on Zach. Try to find out how he has been turned to be a merman" I said.

"Yep, but we better get out of here. He's heading this way"

Zach rose up from the water close to the boat and leaned on the side, Celeste dove under the water and started swimming towards the boat I was in hearing reach. I swam closer and listened in "It's amazing swimming down there" Zach said "I can breathe and could probably stay under for hours!"

"That's great dude. Made a decision on Shayla's party?" The land boy Luke asked.

"Might go. Il bring a friend, possibly Lyla. She seems cool" Zach said, I smiled. Yet the land boy Luke mentioned Shayla, I would not go anywhere near that sea urchin.

Luke shrugged his shoulders "You like her don't you?"

Zach smiled and dove back into the water, I kept staring until I realised Celeste was right under the boat.
