Chapter 33

Zach's POV

Luke and I went for a walk along the beach, I told him how I was still a merman even without the necklace. "Lyla gets what she wants and I get what I want so we are both happy" I said to Luke "She's out of our lives"

Luke looked at me and raised his eyebrows "Yet she still has your necklace. You shouldn't let her win bro, Lyla may live in happiness now but when I see her again I gonna take that necklace and out it around her throat"

I pushed Luke and we carried on walking, the full moon was right above Merrow. She was now gone, I sighed with relief and the mermaids gone. We carried on our walk then we sat down to face the sea, I lied on my back looking up to the moon "No more mermaids" I told myself.

The silence broke after a half hour. It was the rustling and shouting that came from the sea that made us get up "What is that?" I asked Luke.

"Sounds like Shayla and her friends are skinny dipping" He joked.

I frowned "Not funny. I seriously heard shouting"

"Fine lets go check it out!"

We got up and headed towards the shouting, I looked around until I saw tail trashing against the water on the i thought it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. But then i saw some others rose, then i realised who it was Lyla, Echo, Addison and her other friends. But Echo and Nixie lifted Lyla's body on to the sand.

I ran up towards them "What happened?" I asked "Should'nt you be in the sea by now?"

The girls looked at me, i looked at Lyla her body was stiff and her eyes were closed. My heart started pounding 'please dont let her be dead' i thought. I knelt down beside her "What happened!" i repeated.

"Something happened to her the minute she touched the tablet. She sparked out and shes been like this ever since! Its affecting her" Addison told me, her mermaid tail was covered in sand, blood was rushing out her side, badly.

"Cant you girls do something. You're mermaids cant you cast a spell to bring her back?" i asked panicing.

Nixie shook her head, "We tried! We cant bring her back, shes breathing yet shes in a deep coma"

I looked at Lyla and put my body down beside her the waves rushed up to me and my legs started to stick together, and my tail appeared the girls stared yet didnt answer any questions. "Please Lyla. Please come back to me" I said to her.

Lyla's body lay still, her face was pale i held her hand tight and squeezed it tight. Praying with all my might to bring her back to us, as she lay there still i thought of her brother Cato, her cousin and her aunt. How she was needed back in the ocean, i could see that her and the brother Cato got along very well, I had never had a special connection to anybody like that.

Anybody except Lyla.

The minutes started to pass, she didnt breathe. I thought about getting her cousin and aunt but i was completely soaked and so was the other girls. Everybody except Luke, i looked towards him "Go get Lyla's Aunt and cousin. Maybe they know how to bring her back" I said to him.

Luke nodded "Il be back!" he started running.

We sat in silence that was until It happened. Lyla's tail and the other mermaids started glowing, one each colour, blue, red, black, white, yellow and green. Lyla's tail changed, the blue turned into gold and a light blue.It was different, her tail completely gold with part of it blue, the bikini top that she had turned gold but then something else grew on her.

A blue and gold goddess dress appeared with a sash slinging over one of her shoulders. Her right arm was covered in a wrap of gold, her hair started to grow longer touching her hips, but then strands of her hair started turing blue and gold. The gold strands stood out next to the blue, yet her light blonde hair was still covered.

The same happened to Echo and her friends, their hair turning gold and so did their tails. I was amazed, then Lyla's eyes gently fluttered open they were still blue yet tinted with gold.

"Why is Zach a merman?" She asked.

I laughed "Oh Lyla i think that should be the least on your mind"
