Okay, I'm finally sucking it up and using the mobile app because my computer flat-out refuses to turn on. I should update more regularly now. Hopefully. Shit happens.
<Be Sollux this time around>
After Dave and KK had left, the rest of us just sat around on the beach and talked about nothing. John actually was sitting near the ocean and got his ass soaked once. It was pretty hilarious. As I laughed at his expense with everyone else, Eridan tapped my shoulder from behind. My head swiveled to look over at him and I tilted my head as he beckoned me to follow him towards his hive. House. Whatever.
Sighing, I stood up and let Kanaya know we were going inside in case anyone asked. I rushed over to where Eridan was waiting for me on the porch and he smiled, the soft movement barely curving his lips.
"2o.... What exactly ii2 iit that we're doiing?" I asked as I linked my arm with his and he drug me inside.
"Hm? Oh, nofin much. I just wwanted to showw you somefin~" he sounded so sweet, so I didn't mind as we walked upstairs.
We walked to the end of the hall and he flicked a switch on the end. I watched with interest, even as nothing happened. Opening my mouth, I went to say something, but he opened a door, revealing a... Staircase? Oh. I thought it was another room.
Tugging on my arm, he got me to walk up the now lit staircase and, surprisingly, I didn't gripe or complain at all. I just wanted to see what was going on.
When we finally reached the top of the stairs and he opened the weirdly rustic looking trapdoor, my eyes widened at what I saw. The sky above was so clear and there were stars everywhere. Plus, I got what I assumed was a first-class view from this tower thing.
There was a small chuckle at my side and I tore my gaze away from the stars to look at Eridan who was just smiling at me. He looked so carefree and honestly pretty happy. Good. I liked seeing him like that. He deserved it.
"So... do you like it?" he finally asked as I spaced out and counted the light freckles that graced his cheeks. There weren't a lot, but they were spattered around all over, creating the illusion of a full face of them.
It took me a while to answer and he got a little wary. His fins fluttered softly and he started to wring his hands a little. What a cutie.
Smiling, I nodded, "Yea. IIt'2 really cool," nevermind the fact that even if I were locked up here for weeks, I wouldn't manage to make heads or tails of any kind of astronomy equipment. I may be great with computers, but that's about where my limitations lie.
He seemed to perk up at that and grinned enthusiastically, "R-reely? I mean, obvviously, but you reely think that?"
After another nod from me, he seemed to explode, grabbing onto my elbow and tugging me along. I took the opportunity to glance around the room and see more of it.
"That's such a relief. I'm glad. You see, I spend a lot of time up here during the summer and havve done an extraneous amount of research... I didn't exactly havve anyone to share it wwith, but that's okay. It wwas all for personal growwth. Noww that you're here, wwe can appreciate it together, yea?"
I just watched him as he spoke. His entire energy seemed to change and he was a wild whirlwind of excitement now. He was almost like a puppy. The look was even topped off with wide, loving and anticipating eyes. How could I say "no" to that face? I mean, I imagine that it would be pretty easy, but it's the thought that counts.
"II... 2uppo2e 2o?"
With another intake of air he started talking hurriedly again and rushing over to the telescope. Pushing a small button on it, he paused for a second and examined the ground, looking at a few markings on the floor before sliding the telescope over and talking again.
