"Bye" I reply to Katie as she walks out my front door. I go back up to my room and her Mom drives away.
I'm bored, so maybe I'll just give in.
I text Jayden first for the first time since we started talking.
Me- what are you up to
Jayden- not much. I think I'm coming down with a cold. Just laying in bed watching youtube
Me- what do you watch
Jayden- the classics- Jenna Marbles, Chris Klemens, Tana Mongeau..
Me- Tana turns someone into a lesbian every day. You have taste
Jayden- thats a relief. Glad to know im cool😎😂

Jayden- aw

Jayden- can you FaceTime😊
Me- sure. why not
I wait a moment before my phone starts to ring. I hesitate to answer. I don't know why, but this just feels unnatural.
"Hey" She says enthusiastically.
"Hi"
"What's up?"
"Well we were texting like 10 seconds ago so same as before. Nothing."
"Same." She sighs. She suddenly pulls a ukulele into the camera view and starts playing a simple melody.
"Oh, so you play, too? Not just singing?" I ask, making conversation.
"Yeah, just a little bit. I'm not very good."
"Well you seem to have that pattern down, so it can't be that hard to write something to go along with it, or you could just hum or something."
"Yeah, but I still wanna learn some more complicated stuff."
We talk a little about ukulele's and other music stuff until it's already dinner time.
"I got to go. It's dinner time. Pray for me." I say dramatically.
"What's the problem with dinner?"
"There could be plenty. I'll give you a good old fashioned Tana Mongeau storytime about it another time. Bye."
"Bye" I hang up after she replies.
"He fucked me..
..With a toothbrush." I whisper-yell to myself before going downstairs.
"We're going over to Sydney and Luke's house to watch the game tomorrow!" My dad reminds us. I groan.
"We haven't seen them in a while, I'm sure it will be fun. You used to love seeing Sydney." My mom says to me.
"Well if you haven't noticed, my attitude has changed about a lot of things. I don't want to go anywhere tomorrow, especially not for sports-related reasons." I reply.
"Well you're going. Please, just don't fight with me on it."
"Whatever." I sigh.
