-Annie's POV-
I step onto the school bus after a long day. My sister turns away from her friends while I'm on my way to my seat.
"Oh, Annie! I've been meaning to ask you this, but is it true?"
"What are you talking about?" I narrow my eyes with an annoyed tone of voice.
"That post on the high school's page? It was only up for like a minute but everyone saw it. The one about you and Jayden. Are you dating?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I walk away and take my seat.
....
"Have fun, sweetheart." My mom says as I pick up my bag and hop out of the front seat of the car.
Me- I'm here
Jayden- I see you. I'll be down in 5 seconds
"Love you." I say as I place my hand on the car door to shut it.
"Wait,"
"Yes, mother?"
"You know I trust you and support you, right?"
I nod slowly.
"Just reminding you. I don't know if there is anything happening with you and this girl, but I just hope you know that I trust you not to make any bad decisions."
"Oh God, mom. No. Stop."
"Okay. I'm sorry, I just wanted to make it clear. I love you."
"Love you." I close the car door and see Jayden standing in the doorway.
I slowly make my way to the front steps.
"Sky couldn't make it, but everyone else should be here soon."
"Okay. Well I don't think she really needed any of my help anyway. I think we're pretty similar. She knows what's up." I shrug.
"Come on, you can put your stuff right in the living room."
As we enter the house we both get a notification. I think we're both expecting it to be from a certain nosy Instagram account, but it's actually a message to the group chat.
Katie💗- my brother broke his ankle and I have to help take care of him for the the weekend so I can't come over. Sorry:/
Kenzie- aw we'll miss you
Me- I'll only show sympathy if it's Ryan
Katie💗- well go ahead and start crying then lol
Well that kind of sucks. Without Katie I'm basically alone. Jayden and Lauren and Mackenzie will obviously still be here, but Katie's my safety net. One of the few things in my life that isn't changing.
"Well that's kind of sad. I guess the party's down to just four tonight." Jayden looks up from her phone.
"Yep."
I lay my bag down on the floor and Jayden looks out the front window. She comes back over to me and sits down next to me on the couch.
"What's phase two in that little plan of ours?" She asks.
"No, you've got it wrong. This isn't some sort of movie-style plan where we pretend to date and stuff to make exes jealous. We already know that we like eachother, and what we tried at school on Monday to mess with people didn't work, so now that's done."
"So what do we do now?" She asks flatly.
"I don't know. Do we still like eachother?"
"Yeah. So maybe we should try kissing again or something?"
"Now? Here? Is your mom here?"
"Working, as usual." She smiles at me.
"Is your dad working too?"
"Maybe. I haven't seen him in like 8 years so..." she shrugs.
"Sorry."
"It's cool. I'm used to it by now. Plus, I still have a lot to be thankful for."
What bitch actually talks about being thankful for stuff when it's not Thanksgiving?

"What if your friends get here and see us?"
"Then at least we won't have to tell them." She chuckles.
"What would we tell them? What are we? What's happening?" I wave my hands in the air for a moment.
"Let's go somewhere just the two of us tomorrow after everyone leaves and we'll just see what happens. We'll see if it comes up."
"Deal." I stick out my hand and she shakes it firmly, but doesn't let go.
We just sit there awkwardly holding hands until we hear the door open.
Kenzie and Lauren both come in.
"Ooo, are you guys together yet? Were you having a moment?" Kenzie grins as we let go of each other's hand.
"Kenzie, stop! That's rude." Lauren hits her side.
"I mean I have to know the tea on my favorite ship. It's obvious you like each other." She turns back to us.
"Whatever." Jayden chuckles uncomfortably.
Of course Ryan chose today to break his ankle. Thanks a lot. Now I'm all alone in girl world. Let's hope I survive through the night.
