-Annie's POV(surprise surprise am I right)-
I've been laying here with my eyes closed for an hour in attempt to fall asleep, but I just can't. Stress I guess? I don't know.
I know I expected this, and I know that not much will change, but I guess I should still take a minute to actually think about what will. I sit up, accepting this fact that I won't be sleeping any time soon.
Me- can you be at the park in like 10
I wait patiently for Katie's response.
I love Jayden a fuckin lot, obviously. She's the most beautiful intelligent kind person I've ever met, but why worry her? Plus, she's the type to actually be asleep by 12 am on a school night anyway. All I'm saying is that Katie has always been my favorite person to think with. Maybe that will change one day, but for now I'm just fine with it.
Katie💗- exactly how long will this last?
Me- idk
Katie💗- annieeeeeee
Me- come on dude your bestest friend in the world has a problem and she needs you🥺
Katie💗-fine🙄leaving now
I jump out of bed and grab my jacket off the desk chair. Just like every time before, I clutch my sneakers in one hand and slowly open my door with the other. I quietly make my way downstairs and out the front door.

Me- where are you
Katie💗- girl just be grateful i even agreed to show up in the first place
Katie💗- i'm by the entrance
I sigh and stand up, waving my arms hoping to catch the attention of the silhouette by the front sign.
She starts walking over to me and when she arrives we sit down.
"What's up? This better be worth it." Katie says sarcastically.
"My parents are splitting up." I quickly breathe out the sentence. My friend sits up and looks into my eyes.
"Annie-"
"I'm not like sad or anything. I promise. I just felt like I should probably talk about it." I cut her off.
"Of course. So, how do you feel?" I look up at the stars in thought.
"I mean, I guess I would rather not have to deal with them fighting all the time. I truly just don't really think much of it at all. The only thing is.." Katie nods attentively.
"I don't know who I want to stay with. I guess I don't really care as long as I get to stay with my sister."
"Yeah. Well, have you talked to Hayley about all this?"
"Mhm. She doesn't know where she wants to go either. Time will probably be equal-ish with both, but I feel like it's still like a thing. All we're deciding is which parent we want to stay in the house."
I stop there because there isn't really anything else to say. Katie doesn't respond either, because there isn't much to say back to that. I then just stare off into space and assume that my friend is doing the same.
"...Anns?" I snap back into reality.
"Oh, sorry. You can go home. Thanks" I stand up.
"No. I was just gonna say that I'm always here if you need me. I mean, you asked to talk about this anyway, but yeah. Just remember how much you mean to me." I love this bitch. I couldn't ask for a better best friend. She stands up as well and looks at me strangely.
"Thank you, Katie. You should remember the same thing. You're my best fr-"
She interrupts me by planting a kiss onto my lips. HOLY FUCK.
I pull away immediately and start running as fast as I can.
I should have just fucking called Jayden.
