-Annie's POV-
"I'll see you on...new year's eve?" Jayden says after giving me a quick peck on the cheek."Yep. Do you have everything?"
"I believe so." She responds, scanning her bags.
"Ok. Love you" I smile.
"Love you." She starts down my walkway and I watch her get into her mom's car.
I head back upstairs and lay on my bed. I look over at my wall, which will soon be decorated with all the pictures that Jayden and I took last night, once I get them developed.
I guess this will be fun. You know, changing up my room a bit. Lauren told me on facetime once that it looks sad in here, and I guess she's right. Maybe I can have a decorating party or something.
Why did I come back upstairs? I'm hungry.
I head back down the stairs to find my mom sitting at the kitchen table alone, with her head in her hands.
"What's up?" I approach her.
"Oh, it's nothing."
"I truly feel like it's not." I say persistently.
"Annie, it's not your problem." She sighs.
"Okay, but I'm here if you need me."
"See? I should be the one who says that to you. I'm a failure of a parent."
"That's not true. You raised two great kids, and one somewhat okay one." I chuckle. She brings me in for a hug.
