"You're getting divorced, aren't you?" I'm such a loose cannon, Jesus Christ.

"What??" My sister shakes her head.

"Julianna please."

"God, Hayley. Did you seriously not see this coming? They're constantly fighting. We literally talked about this." I throw my hands into the air.

"EVERYONE JUST BE QUIET." My father raises his voice.

"We were trying to make this as easy as possible, but I guess nothing can ever be easy in this house. We just need you both to listen. Please. This is just as hard for us as it is for you."

"Look. I think you both have observed that the two of us have been fighting more often than usual lately. But I also think none of us want to have a big long conversation about this, so we're going to try to get this over with."

"It's not that we don't love each other anymore, things are just different. It's hard to explain. We also want you to know most importantly that we love you more than anything else in this world, and none of this is your fault." Well duh. What else are you supposed to say? 'We hate your guts and we had to split up because you're too annoying for us both to handle full time'?

"We just know that this will end up being better for all of us in the long run. Once we make all our needed adjustments, you won't even notice."

"Yeah I just wont notice another empty seat at the dinner table, and I won't notice being driven between houses all the time. So what's the agreement? Who's moving out? Are you gonna split us up? Is custody 50/50?" I say. I want to hurry this up. I've got some shit to process.

"Well, here's the thing. We want you both to be part of that decision. It may be hard to decide quickly, but we don't want either of you to be unhappy. We'll decide who stays in the house based on where you two want to spend most of your time." My mother folds her hands in her lap.

"So, we want to give you girls some time to process all of this..and hopefully talk to eachother about it."

"Okay. Can we go now?" I stare at my parents blankly.

"Do you promise to have a conversation about this?"

"Sure." I swear I'm being honest. I mean I don't want to lose my sister.
