-Annie's POV-
I hear the door next to mine unlatch.

"How do I look?" Lauren asks sweetly.

"Oh my God you look so cute!"

      "You have to buy it!"

      "Cutie!!"

"Thanks. Annie, did you put it on?" She asks me through the door.

"Uh, yeah. I don't think I like it." I mumble.

      "Come on, let's see!"

"...Can Katie come in real quick?"

"Sure. Open the door for me." I hear her voice, the most familiar one here besides my sister's, and the most comforting.

"Can I come in too?" Speaking of my sister, I hear her small voice in my direction.

"Nope." I get behind the door and open it a little for Katie and Hayley slips in behind her.

"I said no." I say, annoyed at my sister's disobedience

"Well too late, I'm already in here." She smiles.

"You look so good! What's the problem?" Katie questions.

"Yeah, like what have you done with my sister?"

"That's the problem." I sigh.

"I don't see anything wrong with that, Annie. It's just a shirt."

"Do you promise I don't look fat?" I roll my eyes.

"Hell no!" My younger sister says. Katie raises an eyebrow.

"Well you better stay on my good side today or I'm telling mom that you said that." I say. Hayley nods swiftly.

"Come on, we wanna see! I'm sure you look great!" Sky says.

Katie tilts her head towards me and I sigh before slowly opening the stall door and stepping out, the two of them trailing behind me.

"That shirt looks perfect on you!" Kenzie says.

"Hey, you look great!" Sky says just as enthusiastically.

"That's so cute, I want one too!" Lauren laughs.

"Thanks, I guess. It just feels weird. I don't wear stuff like this." I see Jayden looking at the ground. She doesn't like it. I mean, I really shouldn't care, I deal with judgement every day of my life, but for some reason it's kind of bothering me.

"You look really good. You should totally buy it." She says out of nowhere. Kenzie looks back at her questioningly and Hayley looks at me with a huge grin on her face. I just scowl at her in a way that says "What are you looking at me like that for?" That doesn't sound too bad, but imagine it in my bitchy annoyed voice.

Jayden's face is kind of red.

"Uh, you good?" I ask.

"Of course. No, I'm fine." She smiles.

"I was just hot for a second. You know, I'm still getting over that cold I guess. Hot flashes." She chuckles awkwardly. Hot flashes? Is this bitch going through menopause or some shit?

"Are you gonna buy it?" Katie asks, changing the subject.

"I mean sure, I guess." I shrug.

I head back into the dressing room and throw my old shirt back on. I look in the mirror. I look the same. Katie's right. It's just a shirt. My personality hasn't changed. Maybe this one shirt will cause a positive change. Wow, look at me, looking on the bright side. Not sure if I like that or not.

"Now we have to hide them, so no one takes them before we get back." Lauren says mischievously after coming out of her own dressing room.

"I feel like that's the most rebellious thing that happens in your life." I say truthfully.

"I mean, sometimes I swear when I'm home alone, but it makes me feel really guilty afterward and sometimes I cry about it. Even though John does it like all the time." Wow.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot your brother was one of those clowns." I sigh. She points to a shelf with an open spot in the back where we can put our stuff and we head in that direction.

"Yeah, it's hard living in the same house as him. He always has his little parties and gets in fights, and he loves to bug me. But I've dealt with it for 14 years, so I get by. I'm sorry about him, by the way. If he's ever been rude to you."

"Nah, most of the time it's just Hayden and the rest of them laugh along because they don't have their own brains. Which is pretty sad since Hayden barely has half of one himself." I shrug and fold up the shirt before stuffing it away in front of Lauren's dress.

      "You're cool." She smiles.

"Thanks. I have a feeling that you're just trying to make me feel better about my crappy life, but yeah, thanks. You're still pretty nice. I honestly expected you to be extremely annoying at first."

"Thanks?" She chuckles. We walk back to the group and see them all looking at stuff now.

We pick out some more things and hide them, which is pretty dramatic if you ask me, but Lauren and Mackenzie insisted that it's a crucial part of this oh-so-serious shopping trip.

Idk how to end this teehee🥰👊
