Background info: your parents recently passed in a terrible accident. You still have trouble with them not being there but your fiancé definitely has helped you.

"Alex, are you in here?" You ask as you walk into your shared room.
"Back here!" He shouts from the bathroom.

You walk in and start talking to him about wedding preparations. He seems nervous but you brush it off, it's probably just the nerves of getting married. You had planned a lot of the wedding but haven't yet purchased anything. You were going to try on your wedding dress tomorrow.

"Can we have dinner tonight?" Alex asks, interrupting you.
"Yea, sure. When do you want to eat?" He looks at his watch.
"Now?" It surprises you but you nod.
"Give me 10 minutes." He nods and walks out.

You slip on a simple dress and put on some vans, you weren't expecting to be going somewhere fancy. You brushed your hair then walked out.

"That was quick." He says as he makes his way to the door.
"Yea." You're distracted by his strange behavior.

You both hop in his car and he starts driving. You end up going to Tender Greens and getting a table. You guys order and eat. Once you're done, Alex pays then starts looking really nervous.

"Alex, are you ok?" He shakes his head no.
"What wrong?" You're genuinely worried, he's never acted like that before.
"This is hard to say." He takes a deep breathe.
"I can't be with you. I proposed to you and it was all good but, I don't think we will work out. I can't marry you. You can come and pick your stuff up from my apartment tomorrow." He gets up and walks out the door.

You sit there in complete shock going over what just happened in your head. Your eyes start to tear and you start crying. You don't even care if you're getting looks you just want to cry. You have to find somewhere to live very soon. Your fiancé just broke up with you. It was all too overwhelming.

You feel someone beside you in the booth and a pair of arms wrap around you. You look over to see a petite brunette hugging you. You immediately hug her back and continue crying.

"Hey, what happened there? If it's not too soon to ask." She says lifting her head.
"H-he broke up with me. That was my fiancé!" You start crying harder and she just rubs your back.
"Come on, let me bring you to my place." She gently helps you up and brings you to a car.

She drives you back to her place and helps you out. You calmed down but you were still sniffling a lot. She opened her door and sat you on the couch.

"Would you like something to drink?" She asks.
"If you have any hot chocolate." She nods and starts making it.

After a minute or so she brings back some hot chocolate and blankets. She hands the hot chocolate to you and you gladly accept. You snuggle up in one of the blankets and she sits with the other one beside you.

"I'm sorry that Im being so needy." You half chuckle while saying it.
"Oh, you're perfectly fine. I can't imagine what you've been through." You give a small smile.
"Want to watch a movie?" She suggests.
"Yea! First though, what's your name?" You question.
"I'm Devyn." She gives a smile.
"What movie do you want to watch?" You think about it for a moment then decide.
"I really enjoy action movies so what about White House Down?" She nods and gets on Netflix. (Idk if it's on Netflix, I own it.) she finds it and clicks on it.
"I'm gonna make some popcorn you want some?" You nod and she gets up.

*2 months later*

You moved into a new apartment and started hanging out with Devyn and her friends. You met a really cute guy, but it's too soon for you to get into a relationship. You and the guys talk back and forth a lot and hang out some too. Devyn has really cool friends, so it's been pretty easy to forget about your ex.

*4 months later*

It's been 6 months since your breakup with Alex. You went on a date with the guy, who's name is Colby. You've become a lot closer and eventually started dating. Devyn got engaged to her long time boyfriend, Corey, and has been super excited about the wedding. Kat and Sam have been good too. They both will go on double dates with You and Colby. You realize that Alex wasn't the person for you. Everything is better.
