Background: you and Colby are in your home town for your dad's 50th birthday. Your parents are out and about and you decide to make your dad a cake. (This one might be short)

You and Colby are currently making a cake. You planned on make a big, triple layer cake for your dad's 50th birthday. You decided since it was his big birthday you wanted to make him a big cake, and surprise him with you being there. You put the cake in the oven and go sit on your couch with Colby.

The timer goes off and you go to get the cake. Colby is in the bathroom so you have to take them all out on your own. You take out the three layers and lay them in the counter. You flip the cake out and grab out the homemade icing. You put a layer of icing between the layers with a smile, and stack. You then ice the sides and Colby walks in.

"I wasn't gone that long was I?" He laughs.
"I'm just ninja fast." You joke.
"Sure you are." You both laugh and he helps smooth the icing.

You both make little decorations on his cake and laugh. The cake is being decorated like the Simpson's living room with them sitting in it. The Simpson's is his favorite show so you wanted to surprise him. You finish up then write a 'Happy 50th Birthday' on top. You go to get the present and card but can't find them. You search frantically but they are no where to be found. You check the car, but no.

You start to cry feeling like you ruined everything. You were in charge of bringing the gift and you forgot. Colby comes in and sees you crying. He runs over and hugs you.

"What's wrong?" He gently asks.
"I messed everything up." You cry harder and he just hugs tighter.
"You didn't mess anything up." He reassures.
"I-I forgot the gift at home." You sniffle and bury your face in his shoulder.
"We can send it to him when we get back."
"But the card too." You continue crying and he tries to calm you.
"Why don't you make him one?" You nod and wipe your tears. He holds your hand and walks with you to your craft closet.

You grab out the supplies and start making a card. You make it as pretty and fun as possible. By the end of the card making you and Colby are laughing, having a great time. You finish up the card, bring it downstairs, and set it next to the cake.

You hear the car pull in and hide behind the table where he can't see you, because of the table cloth. The door opens and you hear both of your parents walk in.

"How did you manage to do this while we were gone?" My dad asks and laughs. Colby and I pop out.
"Surprise!!!" We shout in unison.
"Y/n!" Your dad runs over and gives you a big hug. He looks over and opens his arms for Colby, who is looking quite nervous. Your mom joins in.
"Thank you for coming." Your dad's eyes water.
"Noooo don't cry. Today is a happy day." He wipes his eyes and nods.

You all eat cake and he opens his cards and gift from your mom. You explain that you forgot the gift and that you'll send it.
