A Party To Remember

She has a boyfriend. How could I ever assume that a girl as amazing as her could be single? I was a fool to believe that I could be the one.

"What about you Felix?" Sienna asks.

I try to find words for explaining my accommodation but fail for a few moments

"He had a lot to drink I guess" says Bryce and everyone laughs in agreement.

"I'm living at a hostel, temporarily of course but yes, it's not a very great place to stay" I finally say.

Sienna immediately shifts beside me with excitement "Guys, how about the five of us live together? I mean think about it... we could split the rent. With a combined budget we can afford a much better place and in this new city we'll have the intimate support of friends at all times" "Almost at all times" adds Jackie.

Sienna shrugs "Well, whatever suits ya! But this is such a fabulous idea. I can start looking for a place tomorrow onwards..."

"Woah, woah, woah hold your horses woman! We all have to agree on it first. So is everyone okay with this plan?" Elijah looks hopefully towards everyone.

"I got no business here but you guys should say yes. Life is easier when you have a good place to sleep and friends nearby you" Bryce says while looking thoughtfully at his glass of scotch.

"Yes! I'll never have to hear people having sex again" Landry agrees.

Jackie chuckles "I say yes too but I can't promise on the 'sex' part Landry" Landry's face loses colour

"Gosh! Here we go again" says Landry as he puts a hand on his forehead

"I say yes" says Elijah.

"It is obviously a yes from me" After Sienna has given her agreement all eyes turn towards me. This is a really good idea but living under the same roof with Sienna... Fool! Sienna isn't the only one living with you, all your other friends will be there... but certainly this boyfriend of hers will keep paying her visits and I'll have to bear that. I find it unbelievable that I met this girl today. This beautiful, sweet, charming, kind, caring... ugh stop it man! You cannot be crushing so hard on her, you just CANNOT BE!

"Okay, I am fine with this idea" I blurt out without another moment of thought "Finally, we thought that you had mentally started doing a diangnosis there" Jackie mocks me but I don't care. This boyfriend trauma is enough for me.

"Great! Cheers. I'll start looking for a place then" Sienna cheerfully raises her glass. All of us clink glasses.

I study Annie's reports and find that all of her symptoms direct towards the fact that it is a bacterial infection. The antibiotics that I have prescribed her now will probably be fine. I am walking towards her room to see her when her entire story replays in my head. She went to Indonesia, she went snorkeling and diving and within a few days she developed rashes and fever. She also had a cut beside her ankle. It hits me like a lightening bolt. Why didn't I realise it before? I had been blasting my brain on this case since morning but could not find an answer and now it lays bare in front of me like an open book. I go and see Annie to confirm my theory. She talks to me and my suspicion takes the shape of reality. So this is what exactly happened. Just then Dr.Ramsey's behaviour with me from yesterday hits my brain. He should be the first to know that I cracked the case, alone. Without any help from my assisstant Doctor. In fact she never even showed up to the ward after yesterday morning. Feeling really proud of myself, I leave to find Dr.Ramsey.

He is not in his cabin. He is not in the cafetaria. He is not even in the staff restroom. I uselessly went there twice just to make sure that he wasn't there. One of the surgical interns was looking at me like he would kill me when I was restlessly waiting for every restroom to become empty and hoping that Dr.Ramsey would step out from any one of it.
