That First Heartbreak

After giving myself more than enough time to cry my pain out, I feel almost numb. As the sun goes down, I lay back down on the grass which is cool against my neck. What do you do when your world falls apart and with no hope of things ever getting better again? What would the people I know do about it?

"Go and sit on the balcony, feel the breeze and eat the entire bag of Cheetos" Elijah Greene

"Shots, shots, shots and a regrettable hookup" Bryce Lahela

"Just take a glass of whiskey and drown yourself in as much work as you can find" Ethan Ramsey

"A bottle of the most expensive wine, a fiery drunk call to the person who hurt you" Jackie Varma

"A beer, some friends, some tacos made by my Mom and a punching bag at the gym" Rafael Aveiro

"A tub of ice-cream, a romantic movie, tissues, tissues and lot's of tissues!" Sienna Trinh

Sienna Trinh...

Even in pain, she's all I can think of. Ha! Maybe the one who caused me pain, her way can be sued to fix it as well.

A tear falls off my eye, hot and fast. I am almost blinded by the tears. Gazing at the orange sky, I am once again sobbing.

"You look sick! Sure you want to hang out and get a beer rather than some medicine?" asks Rafael in a very sweet and concerned way.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I think I just... I dunno why I just called you like that" I shrug embarrassingly.

"'Wanna get a beer?' the moment I read your text, I kinda knew that it wasn't anything good" he grins.

"Really? Pretty intelligent you are" I mutter.

"So we have our beer, may I suggest a nice spot to enjoy it?" he asks

"Wherever you want, man" I just don't wanna be alone right now. That's all. Take me anywhere.

"Ma! Este es mi amigo" he introduces me to his mother.

The kind lady smiles brightly "Mi niño ! Lovely seeing you" she has a strong Spanish accent which I find very cute. Then she pulls me into a very tight hug, startling me.

"Ma, let the poor boy go" Rafael protests.

Ma, gives me a strong... a pretty strong pat on the back "Aye Dios! Señor don't you eat anathin?"

"Don't mind, Felix. Ma feels that way about everybody. She'll stuff my belly with all the tacos she can possibly make and still say that she hasn't fed me well" Rafael jokes.

"Mi niño, hope you staying for dinner tonight. I'm making Rafa's favourite tacos!" she looks expectantly towards me.

"I won't wanna burden you Mrs. Aveiro" I respond

"Los despropósitos, Mi niño! You are to have dinner with us. Ma makes good, good food" she insists.

At this, I finally nod in agreement.

Rafael takes me to the rooftop of his house.

"My neighbourhood isn't exactly your type... Sorry if you feel out of place" he apologizes.

"Why are you being sorry? Your neighbourhood seems very quiet and cool. Plus, it has you and your Mom, that makes it the best place ever" I reassure him.

He blushes slightly and scratches his neck while smiling at my comment.

We sit on the ground and open our beer bottles.
