Silently, I watch the map. It was a tough hike but the view from the top of this hill is worth all the effort. Tomorrow, we go to the special lake, which is the main spot of our journey and then travel back to the starting point tomorrow. I mean, we have to get back to the apartment by night because we have work as well on Monday.
"Shall we set up the camps?" asks Bryce.
Jackie puts her hands on her waist and surveys the flat hilltop. Once she is convinced that we are most definitely safe up here, she nods.
"Then let's begin all you ladies!" Bryce jumps up excitedly and begins pulling the camping equipment from his large bag. The rest of us follow suit.
"How can I help?" asks Elijah.
"Well... How about you help me with opening this thing, it is so badly tangled up" I offer.
He smiles and comes forth to help me. The two of us pull out the folded tent from my bag and then open it up. He knows much more about this than I do. It is my first time camping after all.
"Do we need wood?" Sienna asks everyone and we realize that we actually do.
"It will be dark soon, you shouldn't go alone" advises Rafael.
I agree with him. None of us should go alone. "It is crappy that we forgot. Now we have to go all the way down the hill to get em'"
"True that! There are literally no bushes over here" says Jackie while pointing around. Yeah, no bushes. No source of wood or anything.
"Guess those s'mores will have to work without the fire" shrugs Bryce.
"No, I'll go and get the wood" I announce.
"Yeah. I love you for this, Felix!" Jackie sounds relieved.
"Oh no, no! You can't go alone. It is getting dark already" Elijah stops me.
"No, I'll be fine. The hike is gonna be a piece of cake now that we are not wearing those heavy backpacks. I'll be back real soon" and I pick up my water bottle. I'll only be taking that.
"Let me come with you" Sienna suggests in a low tone. I would've almost missed it if I was not paying attention to my surroundings.
This is going to be very awkward. I better go alone or with anybody else.
"I am coming along..." she heads towards her backpack to grab her bottle too.
"No!" I almost yell.
All of my friends are eyeing me now... shit!
"I... will take Rafael along!"
"No way, Felix. Rafael knows how to set up a good tent so he's staying here" says a frustrated Jackie.
"Sorry man. I agree with the lady. I'll get done with this tent, you can take Sienna along" he tells me.
Sienna eyes me, she looks rather hurt that I denied to take her.
"Take Landry along" suggests Jackie.
As expected, Landry makes a face "But I am tired, I hiked up all the way and now you want me to hike down all the way. It's unfair!"
"C'mon Landry, be a man!" Bryce smacks him on the back in a very jock way and he grabs his back immediately as if though he's hurt by the little gesture.
"Nah, it's fine" I refer to him. I hardly expect anything from you, you idiot.
Sienna catches my eyes again.
"If... you are not tired" I say while looking at her with an unsure look.
"I'm good" she replies with her lips pursed.
