When Your Enemies Unite

"Disciplinary hearing?" Elijah is shocked.

"But she took the medicine on her own will!" exclaims Jackie.

"Her son has filed a complaint against me and there is no way that Edenbrook's authorities are taking it lightly" I explain.

"But he should know that what his mother did was on her own will. In fact, she made you do this even after knowing the risks that were attached" an angry Bryce adds.

"Whatever it may be, we are with you, Felix and there is no way we are letting anything happen to you" Sienna looks at me with extreme determination. I tell them plainly why I don't want them involved in all this.

"You all should listen to what he's saying. Don't let emotions make you commit a career suicide" Landry says in his usual bored tone.

"You weren't going to help him anyways, Olsen" Bryce narrows his eyes at Landry.

"Don't misbehave with me! I will not tolerate it anymore. Just because you all are foolishly on one side and I am on the other doesn't mean that majority is right!" he lashes out and then turns at his heel to leave us. He bangs his bedroom's door shut.

"There was literally no need for making such a huge noise" an irritated Elijah speaks while holding his ear.

"He always had a thing for dramatics" I mutter. No one laughs. Not even Bryce, who laughs even on the lamest of jokes. They all really are pretty tensed.

"Okay, maybe my mind is telling me to stay out of this shit and stay miles and miles away, but my heart wants me to stand by you, because you would've done the same for me or any one else in this room" Jackie ponders.

Just when I am about to suggest that she listens to her mind, she speaks again "I ain't staying outta this, Felix. I am with you"

"Exactly, the world can go to hell! I am standing by your side and that's final" Sienna seem to be the only two in this room now. My eyes meet hers. I am pretty sure that the others also express their support towards me but my world has faded for the moment.

"Don't you worry" Jackie pulls me in an awkward hug. Since I'm sitting, she's standing. She has her arms around my neck. Our heads touch and I get startled. I would've seen it coming if I was paying attention, but of course...

I see Sienna's mouth twitch and it might be me being paranoid but I do think that it is what jealousy looks like.

"Thanks" I shut my eyes and give Jackie a puppy-like smile. She lets me go with a kiss on the top of my forehead.

"I appreciate you all and the help that you are ready to give but I'd rather keep it to myself. I'm sure I'll find a way to make it alright" This is my final word.

"Dr. Alexander" the receptionist, Gemma arrives.

Please don't ask me about the disciplinary meeting!

"Dr. Alexander, remember our chat regarding your pager?" she looks a bit unsure but I do remember it very well.

"I might be having something of extreme importance to show you" she whispers gravely.

As I steady myself in front of the monitor, she plays a security camera's clip for me.

Landry walks up to Danny. They have a small word and then Danny lets him view the reception's computer. Landry points at the monitor and asks him to do something. The two of them definitely look tensed, they surely don't want to get caught. They do whatever it was in a minute's time and then give each other an awkward nod. Afterwards, Landry leaves and Danny stays on the reception and resumes his work as if though nothing happened.
