Correy Smith
I can't believe I believed them.
I mentally scolded myself as I made my way to the parking lot. Those rascals lied to me. After telling Liam what we allegedly did on Saturday and later finding out it was all a lie, I had rushed out of the room, flustered and embarrassed.
Of course Liam had found a way to tease me and am sure he wasn't going to stop anytime soon.
I wasn't mad, if by any chance I was glad. Sure it left an uncomfortable feeling, but at least I was bold enough to do what I had done few minutes before. The thought of sitting on his lap made me giggle as I stopped midway and did a happy dance.
He sure was being cute.
Maybe I should get hurt more often.
I thought to myself. I sighed as I made my way to my brother's car. I did not want to go to class so I decided to wait for him. I leaned on the posh vehicle, gently drumming the hood with my fingers.
I glanced around, only seeing few students around, when something caught my eye. I squinted trying to figure out what it was.
One thing led to another and I found myself peeking from the wall. How I got there, I couldn't tell.
The sight before me making me shake with fear and disgust.
Owen...
He was straddling a boy, punching his face while laughing maniacally like it was the most normal thing to do. His fingers were bloody, something that made me nauseous.
The boy's cries were all I could hear for a minute.
Do something!
The voice in my head screamed but my legs were transfixed, my body shaking with fear. I managed to tear my gaze from the scene as I looked around, desperately trying to look for help.
No one was there. No single person was there.
"S-Stop p-p-ple..ase...s" The boy tried to say but his mouth met bloody knuckles, silencing him. For a second, I saw myself as the boy and never had I ever been that scared, ever
I have to do something. But what?
I could rush to the principal's office...
No it might be too late.
I drew in a shaky breath and dropped my bag on the ground. With all the courage I could ever have mastered, I slowly made my way towards them.
My inner voice screamed at me to stop, to turn back and get help but I couldn't listen. I had to save the boy.
Owen must have noticed my presence since he stopped punching the boy and glared at me. His glare soon turned into a smirk and I knew I was done for.
At least I tried.
He left the boy and made his way towards me. I was shaking like a leaf but also grateful that he stopped punching the boy.
I was afraid I would soon start to hyperventilate when he was just two steps away.
"D-Don't come a-any c-closer!" I yelled, moving backwards.
"Or else what?"
"Y-you..." my words were stuck in my throught as he roughly grabbed my arm.
"You shouldn't stick your nose into my business." He snarled, pathetically staring at me.
"T-this i-is w-wrong..."
His nails dug into my arm and for once I was so grateful that I had a sweatshirt on. Otherwise his nails would have drawn blood out of my skin.
I glanced behind him, noticing that the boy was no longer there.
I hope he gets help.
" I hate you!You ruined my life!"
"A-am s-sorry..."
He lifted his hands and I could feel the fat tears streaming down my face. I saw him raise it, the image blurry as tears clouded my vision. I tugged, trying to escape but he only tightened his grip on my arm making me wince.
This was it.
I closed my eyes waiting for the impact.
Silence.
The grip on my arm loosened and finally was pulled away. I peeked one eye open only to see Owen lying on the ground, the bruised boy holding a piece of wood in his hands.
I quickly fumbled for my phone and called the one person I had in mind.
After the call was over, less than a few seconds, I moved towards the boy who was now limply laying on the ground. His nose was broken and his lips busted. His face was covered with blood and he was so still I thought he wasn't breathing for a moment.
"Correy! Correy!.."
Liam.
He came running, two other people who I did not recognize behind him.
"Oh my God Correy, you s.. scared me." He said, his voice muffled as hugged me tightly. I let out a sigh, relieved as I hugged him just as tight. I felt safe and for a minute I was still, only pushing away to look at the bruised boy who was being assisted by the two boys that Liam came with.
"He needs an ambulance." The brunette one spoke.
"Go call the nurse and the principle." Liam told the other boy, his arm tightly holding me to his side.
Everything happened fast. One minute the principal was shouting at us, the next medics were running up and down trying to get both Owen and the bruised boy into the ambulance.
I was only brought out of my thoughts when Liam carried me towards my brother's car.
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yes"
"I swear that kid needs to be expelled." I could only agree. Who found joy in beating others to such extent?
Liam put me down when we got there and I immediately phoned my brother. I didn't want to spend any other minute in school.
"You're gonna be alright?"
"Yeah."
When my brother got there, Liam kissed my cheek promising to call me when I got home before he walked away.
"Correy what happened?" My brother asked, his voice laced with worry.
"Where do I start..."
