Tate Payton.
Fuck it!
You know what? I was done. I was fed up. Whatever was going on between me and Rusty, I was done with it. Mama didn't raise a bitch and I wasn't about to become one.
I stormed into the hallways, a determined look on my face. Finding Rusty was not that hard considering I had been dodging and hiding from him for the past two days. Or was it four? I couldn't remember.
He was at his locker as usual, surrounded by those girls. My eyes trailed on one in particular. Lisa? Livia? I didn't know and at this point I did not care. Her perfectly manicured hand was on Rusty's arm as she animatedly talked to him about God knows what.
She had not given up on making Rusty her boyfriend, even after he politely told her no, cause that was just Rusty being Rusty. He always cared about people's feelings and clearly he did not want to hurt her's.
Or...what if she already had feelings for her.
That thought left a tight knot on my throat, but I wasn't backing down. If he would reject me, then well and good. At least I would have gotten it out of my chest. I took a deep breath and made my way towards him, coughing lightly to get his attention.
"Can I talk to you, privately?" I asked, the- Livia,Lisa- girl threw me a glare, threatening me with her look. I paid her no attention and instead stared at Rusty who had a shocked look on her face.
"I've been looking for you for the past three days."
"I know, so can I talk to you?"
"Of course, let me just lock this."
He did just that and followed me soon after. I led him out of the school building and on to the field which was pretty empty. Now that we were alone, I started sweating as my heart beat loudly in my chest.
This was it.
"Look am sorry. I don't know what happened to you but am sorry if it was my fault." He said once we settled on the seats at the furthest corner of the field. I stared at him for some seconds, mentally noting how the sun made his hair turn auburn. It looked good.
"It's okay."
"If you say so. So what did you want t-"
"I don't like how that girl was touching you." I cut him off before I could chicken out.
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said." He was utterly confused, I think. I couldn't look him in the eye.
"Tate...I...what do you...I wasn't even paying her any attention." I snorted at this and risked a glance at him. His brows were furrowed.
"I like you."
"...umm...okay..."
"Not as a friend. I like you, romantically." I turned to him, I had to get this over and done with. I couldn't read his expression. Was he mad? Angry? I couldn't tell. I was about to reassure him that I wouldn't force him when he hugged me.
He just hugged me...

When I was young, like-14 year old-young, I had always wanted a girlfriend. Whenever mama and dad went to parties, I tugged along and would always hang around with the girls my age.
I remember this particular one, Odile Oakley. She was my first kiss, probably the only girl I ever kissed to be honest. With her pretty black hair and her lightly freckled face, I had liked her from the very first glance.
Mama had nudged me to go talk to her and I did.She was sweet, literally. Her lips were soft and her strawberry chapstick tasted nice but I didn't like it. The kiss. It just felt wrong and so I never kissed anyone else after that.
Not until now.
How I found myself in the washroom stalls, shoving my tongue inside Rusty's mouth, I couldn't tell. One minute he was hugging me, the next, I was half straddling him as he sat on the toilet seat, in a heated kiss.
This one felt good, ecstatic even. My hands messed with his hair, untangling it from its bun, as his rested on my waist.
A loud knock on the door was all it took for us to jump away from each other as we both took deep breaths.Whoever it was kept knocking and knocking, having no courtesy.
"Fuck off!" I yelled, irritated when the person continued knocking.
Rusty quietly chuckled at this, adjusting his hair in the process. The knocking stopped soon after and I was ready to jump on Rusty again, intent on finishing what we had started.
"No, first period is already over." He tried to say but I wasn't having any of it.
I licked his lower lip, taunting him to open up so I could ravish his mouth again.
"You are no fun." I pouted after some minutes of trying in vain.
"We have to go." He insisted, already unlocking the door. Pecking my lips one last time, he stepped out, leaving me hot and bothered.
I took my time, trying to tame my brown locks. My lips were still swollen but I couldn't care less. At least not when the boy I liked caused it.
Certainly not.
