Jamie
"You're coming to the city? With all the guys? Next week?!"
Erin is clearly in a state of shock, much like I was last night after Jay got the call. I laugh at her as I tie my hair up into a bun. I'm talking to her over speaker phone.
"Yeah, Er. The scouts want us to audition for them at some space in New York. So we're gonna drive up, do the audition, then maybe hang with you and Sarah after if you're up for it?"
"Yes, of course, I cannot believe you guys have a fucking audition! So soon! You've barely been a NBU freshman for three months!"
I laugh at her again, I love how stoked she is about this.
"I know, it's crazy, right? We're not gonna sign with the label, we're just gonna do the audition for experience. And, it'll be a good chance for the four of us to visit you. We're gonna book a couple hotel rooms in the city, of course. I'll room with Jay, and Patrick and Joel will shack up."
"Right, that makes sense." Erin says. She sounds far away now.
"You okay, Er?" I ask, picking my phone up and heading downstairs.
"Yeah, just... I didn't think I'd see Jay so soon after... You know."
"Yeah, I know. He's excited about seeing you, though. Have you talked to him?" I ask.
"A little, but not about this. I'll probably hear from him today... Yeah, he's just texted me. He wants me to call him." She informs.
"Do it. Talk to him. He's super excited." I encourage her.
"I will, I'll call him now." She assures me, and I can hear the smile in her tone. As much as she thinks she and Jay need to get over each other, of course she's happy for him about this.
"Cool, well, I'll fucking see you next week, New York!" I say.
"I know! I'll tell Sarah! See you then, North Bridge!"
I laugh as I end the call and head out of the house with Benji. I'm walking him over to the park to meet Aubrey and Kim, I'm gonna tell them my good news then.
I'm seriously happy right now. I have a good thing going with Shaun (I'm gonna see him again tonight), I have the best friends in the world, and I have an actual audition with an actual record label next week. So what if Noah Adams pretty much stomped all over my heart a few days ago? I'm strong. I can move on from that. I will not have constant flashbacks about how it felt to kiss him, and lay beneath him in bed with him gasping for breath, hovering above me, looking at me like he wanted to devour me. Nope. I ain't thinking about that at all!
I walk into the park from the Western entrance (nearest my house - the park is fucking huge, so there are a few entrances) and head towards the part of the lake where the pedal boats are usually parked up on the water. It's November now, so the pedal boat's are no longer available to use. They should still be sitting on the water though, if not they'll be in the boat house at the side. Whatever, Aubrey and Kim will find me no problem. I walk along the edge of the lake with Benji, noticing that winter is well and truly on it's way now. The brown leaves littering the pathway are crisp, and I know they won't be around much longer. The tree's are gonna be covered in snow soon, and I cannot wait. I love winter. Wearing cosy hoodies and scarves and woolly bobble hats is my favourite. And I love getting cosy indoors in the winter - lighting the fire and getting comfy underneath a blanket or two. Can't beat it. Summer is long gone, and I'm happy about that.
As I approach the boat house on the corner of the lake, I spot Aubrey and Kim sitting on a bench, admiring a couple of swans and their almost fully grown cygnets. It'll be time for them to fuck off somewhere warmer soon I would say. Honestly, I'm surprised there are still swans on the lake at this time of year. Oh well.
