~ Christmas Day ~

Noah, 08:02am: Hey. Merry Christmas. Sorry I didn't reply last night, I was at a party with some old friends. What do you have planned for the day?

Me, 08:14am: Merry Christmas to you too! No worries. Christmas dinner at the palace, and not much else. It's our tradition. How about you?

Noah, 08:15am: Dinner with mom and some other family. I have to make an appearance at my dad's at some point too. Also a tradition. Have fun x

Me, 08:16am: Thanks, you too. Hope Santa was good to you x

Should I say something else? I don't know. I don't feel like I should. His 'have fun x' seems pretty final. Total conversation killer anyway. Whatever, I'll text him again later.

Me @ The Middle, 08:17am: Merry Christmas guys! Love you all. Joel, send photos. Let us know what you're getting up to!

Joel @ The Middle, 08:22am: *picture attachment*

Joel @ The Middle, 08:22am: Merry Christmas to you too! Melody is extremely excited, as you can see x

Aww, he's sent us a picture of his niece standing next to the Christmas tree in her pyjamas, smiling from ear to ear because of all the gifts under the tree waiting to be opened. She's adorable.

Joel @ The Middle, 08:23am: I'm meeting Sarah's mom in New York tonight remember. Wish me luck!

Patrick @ The Middle, 08:24am: As if you need luck charming a woman. Merry Christmas fuckers, see you tonight Jamie Squared x

No word from Jay yet. He didn't reply to my text from last night either. Same goes for Erin... I bet they fucked. Whatever, it's Christmas!

I get up and head downstairs to find my dad making coffee in the kitchen. And oh my god, he's making proper coffee. Like, with a coffee maker.

"Merry Christmas, kiddo. And before you freak out, santa left this for me. Not you." He explains with a smile.

"Merry Christmas, dad. It's fine. But I'll be sticking to instant." I inform him with a small smile.

"I will too." Of course he will. It's what my mom always did. "But I wouldn't mind a decent cup every now and then."

We both laugh as I walk over to the counter to switch on the kettle.

"I got a gift for Benji." My dad says, picking up a small parcel wrapped up in shiny blue paper. "You wanna help him open it?"

"Only if you'll help him open mine!" I say, before rushing through to the living room to retrieve the gifts I got for Benji and my dad.

We open our gifts as we have breakfast. Dad and I both got Benji a new collar, oh well, he has a whole new wardrobe now at least. I got dad some new slippers, a new coffee mug and airmiles. He always appreciates the airmiles, since he has to do so much flying. And it means he has more miles towards coming home. Dad got me some new guitar picks, a new case for my favourite acoustic guitar (the old one I used was getting pretty worn) and a bottle of Jack. How awesome is my dad? After, we head out with Benji together, destined for the grave yard. Another Christmas day tradition: we always go to visit mom. It's never the happiest of moments, but we gotta do it, you know? We lay some flowers down at Joel's parents grave too, since him and Jordan are both in Philly. Joel will come see them when he's home. And, as always, we run into Patrick and Pete. Well, usually we run into the full Moore-Johnson squad, but it's just the two of them this year.
