Jamie
~ December 29th ~
I open my eyes and wonder where the hell I am for a split second, before remembering that I'm in my room at Jay's parent's cabin. The early morning sunshine is filtering through the branches on the trees outside of my bedroom window, and the rays managing to pass through the branches are streaming into the room through the window. It looks like it's gonna be a nice day. Cold of course, but nice. No rain like yesterday at least.
I shrug into my white fluffy robe and pull on a pair of fluffy Slytherin socks before putting on an old pair of black hiking boots I brought with me. I don't wanna ruin any of my good shoes by trudging through the wet, muddy grass outside the cabin beyond the decking. I wanna head down to the lake since we didn't get the chance yesterday, so that's exactly what I do. I make myself a coffee (instant, I am not attempting to operate the fancy coffee maker) then I head down to the wooden dock of the lake. I can see Patrick sitting on the dock with a coffee mug next to him, one hand pressed up to his ear. He's talking to someone on the phone.
"Nah, it rained the whole day yesterday. We pretty much just listened to music and watched movies." I hear him say, then a pause while whoever he's talking to replies.
"Yeah, he's barely put her down since he gave her the ring. Did Jay tell you about it?" Ah, he must be talking to Joel. I can join in on this.
"No, I didn't say anything to Jamie." I pause. I'm not that far behind him now. He didn't say anything to me about what?
"Not coming here would have been weird, we do it every year, man." He sighs. "We told Jay and Erin to come on their own, but they insisted."
I take a couple steps towards him. Why was my name mentioned just now?
"I don't know, go for a walk through the woods if the rain stays off, chill out in the hot tub. What are you and Sarah doing today?" They're just chit chatting now, I can make my presence known. But just as I go to walk over to him, he says something else that grabs my attention.
"For fuck sake, Joel. I didn't have much of a choice, did I? She's my best friend, same as you and Jay. I am capable of hanging out with her on my own, you dick."
Okay, I gotta step in here now. I clear my throat and walk over to sit down next to him at the dock. He turns to face me and almost drops his phone into the lake, startled by my sudden arrival. I raise my eyebrows at him as I sip my coffee, like yeah, I heard you talking about me just now.
"Jamie's here now, I'll put you on speaker." Patrick says into his phone quickly.
"Morning, J3." I say as Patrick lays his phone down on the space between us on the dock and picks up his coffee mug. "Why do you think Patrick's incapable of hanging out with me on his own?"
Patrick laughs as he raises his mug to his lips.
"I never said that, Jame." Joel's voice comes through the phone. "I was simply reminding him that Jamie comes first. I don't want him ditching you for a hook-up or whatever, not now that Erin and Jay are together."
"Joel, get a grip." I say, and Patrick laughs again. "You know P would never ditch me. And besides, we're in the middle of the fucking woods. Who is he gonna hook up with out here, huh? That stupid Jamie comes first pact is ridiculous, anyway. You guys know I wouldn't care if any of you ditched me for a hook up."
"Which is exactly why you aren't a part of the pact." Patrick says cheekily. I shove him.
"Yeah, it's between me, P and J1. Always has been." Joel says through the phone. "So how was Christmas, Jame? Besides Jay's big ring gesture."
