"Dude, I have a huge favour to ask." Jamie says. Her eyes are wild, and there's obviously something going on. But, she's also frowning and trying to look past me, into my hotel room. I keep a firm hold on the door, she is not coming in here. "What are you doing?"
"Um..." I start, because I really can't think of a good excuse for not letting her into my room. I glance over my shoulder, and see that the coast is clear, and the bathroom door is closed. It wasn't closed a second ago. Okay. I breathe a sigh of relief before opening the door fully and stepping aside, inviting Jamie in.
"Whatever." She says, brushing off that weird moment and walking past me, into the room. I look around, eyeing the bathroom door again. Jamie makes directly for the double bed, sitting down and looking at me. Whatever this is, it's serious. She's on a mission. It's fine, she has absolutely no idea that Sarah is currently hiding in the bathroom.
"Okay, so. This is gonna come as a shock, but just hear me out." Jamie starts, and as jumpy as I feel right now in this situation, I am intrigued. She goes on. "Erin and Jay slept together the night of the Halloween Dance."
My eyes immediately dart over to the bathroom door, because I know Sarah can hear this too, and I'm worried she might burst through the door right now to question Jamie about this revelation. I had no idea that anything happened between Erin and Jay, and I know Sarah didn't know about this either. We were too preoccupied with our own secrets the night of the Halloween Dance. This is a huge shock. I don't say anything, and I don't move from where I'm standing next to the bathroom door. I let Jamie continue.
"They finally did it. They hooked up. And yes, it's surprising. And yes, I'm sorry I didn't say anything, but you know what they're like! They both swore me to secrecy!" Jamie exclaims.
"Okay, so why are you telling me this now?" I ask her.
"Because, things have been...different with them. Good different. They've actually been talking, and Jay told me they finally admitted that they love each other." Jamie informs me. Wow.
"Are you serious?" I can barely believe this, and I can barely contain my happiness about this. If Jay and Erin have decided they wanna be together, well... That's very good news for me and Sarah.
"Totally. Didn't you see how friendly they were tonight?" Jamie asks me. In all honesty, I didn't really notice how well Jay and Erin got on tonight, no. I was too busy talking to Sarah.
"Right." I say. "So, what does this mean?"
"Well, it's pretty fucked up, actually." Jamie says with a sigh. Damn, I knew this was too good to be true. "Jay wants to be with Erin, we've always known that. She's the problem. She's still adamant that the long-distance thing wouldn't work out, so she still doesn't wanna try with him. But, since they're both in New York tonight, and I guess they screwed each others brains out the other weekend. Well, you see where I'm going with this?"
"I think so." I say. "They wanna spend the night together tonight, since they're both in the same place?"
"Exactly." Jamie says. "One night only. It's dumb, I know. But I think Jay's hoping this kinda thing will help win Erin over. And with Erin, well, you know her. She just wants to sleep with Jay again. But it means more to her than just sex, I know it does. I want them to be together tonight, probably just as much as they both want it, because -"
I cut her off. "Because this could be the start of Erin realising she wants things to progress with Jay? Rather than continuing with her hopeless mission to get over him?"
Jamie nods at me and gives me a small smile. I smile back at her, because I couldn't agree more.
"Okay, so what's the plan?" I ask, because I'm not sure what Jamie wants from me right now.
