Jamie
Shaun steps into my room in the hospital and closes the door behind him. He looks great, a little tired, but great. He gives me a small smile before approaching my bed.
"I'm not gonna fuck around with this, so here it goes. I'm not pregnant, you can relax."
He blinks at me a couple of times before bursting into laughter.
"Glad this accident hasn't changed you, Superstar." He says.
"Don't start your shit with me, Shaun. I may be hospitalised, but I'll still kick your butt." I come back at him with a smile.
"Oh, I don't doubt that. Not for a second." He sits down on the chair next to my bedside. "So - why the pregnancy scare? You put my through hell last night, Hawkins."
"I know, and I'm sorry. You would never have found out if this hadn't happened. I would have just taken the test, it would have been negative, and it wouldn't have effected your life at all. Sorry, dude." I say sympathetically. I totally understand what he must have been going through all these hours, the prospect of becoming a dad. Christ.
"You're okay now, and you're not pregnant. That's what's important." He smiles at me again. "Did Jay tell you that our dad's got some hot shot surgeons over here to work on you? You'd probably be dead right now if it weren't for us."
I raise my eyebrows in surprise. No, Jay didn't tell me that. I guess he didn't feel the need to, like Shaun does.
"Well, thanks for that. I owe you one."
"You owe me your life. Or at the very least, some pity sex." He wiggles his eyebrows at me suggestively, and I sigh.
"You are unbelievable." I scold him, and he laughs. "Just because I almost died and you were almost a dad, doesn't mean we need to start hooking up again. I said we were over, and I'm sticking with that now. Okay?"
"I'm kidding, Superstar. Lighten up, will you?" He says, while looking around at all the medical shit surrounding me.
"Believe me, I heard you when you told me we were toast." He says, smiling all the while. "I couldn't make you cum anyway, so what's the point?"
"Shaun, please." I say with a frown. Now is hardly the time to discuss that.
"Again, kidding." He says, grinning at me.
"Why are you in such a jokey mood anyway?" I ask him. "Haven't you been stressing the fuck out about potentially becoming a father?"
"Of course I have, that's why I'm so happy!" He exclaims, and I laugh. Fair point. "It would have been a fucking disaster. We have totally dodged a bullet. Especially you, considering you wouldn't have even known who the father was."
"Right." I say, totally embarrassed. Noah overheard Shaun and I the first time we had sex, but I don't know exactly how much Noah knows at this point... "I assume Noah knows about us, then? The nurse said the two of you have been waiting all night? You talked?"
"We have talked, but only a little. The guy doesn't say much. He's a weirdo, Jame. You could do better."
I laugh and shake my head. That's the first time Shaun has ever called me 'Jame'. Does this mean we're friends now?
"So, we're cool, right?" I ask him. "I'd like to call you a friend."
He raises his eyebrows, like he's considering it. I know he's just messing with me though.
"Yeah, we're cool. Friends, with no benefits." We both laugh. "The only other thing... My dad really wants to meet you."
That I was not expecting.
