15. The park

James Dayton's P.O.V

"I-I'm... Excuse me?" I ask like a fool looking at her. Maybe I misunderstood her words, maybe she said something and my hopeful brain caught something else.

Aria's laugh makes me give her a small smile, loving the feeling of my heart beating fast.

It goes crazy when I am near her.

"You are excused. Let's go, we can eat ice-cream and go to the park."

I raise my eyebrow, being sure now that my mind isn't playing tricks on me. I heard her correctly.

Why does she want to hang out with me? To make fun of me more?

I clear my throat and take a step back, shaking my head and noticing how her smile falls.

Making me immediatly frown. I don't want to make her mad or sad, that's the last thing I could want.

"I-I c-can't. I have homework".

By having homework, I mean going home, sleeping and eating, then looking for drama on the internet. Let's not forget my account on Netflix.

"Oh. You are sure? We can walk a little, I just want to talk. At least for a few minutes." Her lips make a straight line, and her eyes are looking at me, pleading me to accept her offer.

Sighing, I watch the smile on her face appearing when Aria realizes I will go with her.

This smile will be the death of me.

"Wait, I need to tell my friends that I won't go with them home." Remembering Dean and Mark, I take my phone and call Mark.

After a few seconds, he accepts the call and by the noise background, I can tell that he is already going towards the car.

"Don't wait for me."

"Wait what-" I close my phone and smile, knowing that I will be yelled at in a few hours when I will be arriving home.

Still, I don't care.

Making my friends angry or confused is my job.

"We can leave." I turn around noticing Aria waiting for me to finish my call, giving me a little privacy.

Grateful for that, I smile again at her and with a flick of my wrist, I motion to her to come towards me.

Leaving the school, I bit my lips. What we should talk about? What should I do now that we are spending time together and I see her outside of the school?

"I have an idea. Let's ask questions about each other. I want to know you better."

Her confidence and voice make me smile again and I realize I must look creepy, whatever she does makes me smile. Oh no, I am whipped already. I think I started being whipped a few years ago actually.
