"Madison, aren't you ready yet?" Brenda came into the room with a bag full of makeup. I completely ignored her question and drew my attention to the bag. "What are you going to do with that bag full of makeup?" "Madisonnn, it's your birthday. Let me do your makeup." She raised her puppy eyes. She knew I couldn't stand that, and I succumbed to her pleading face. "But you don't make me a barbie; you hear me, Brenda!" "No, no." She assured me that she pushed me into a chair and started.

I stood in front of my mirror, and I couldn't deny that I was satisfied with the result. My brown curls were gone for once, and my hair was now wholly styled on my shoulders. My face was made up with eye shadow, eyeliner, and a bit of mascara. I was wearing my dark jeans with my white shoes underneath. I was wearing a summery white top with tiny flowers on it. "W-O-W." Joshua walked into the room and blinked a few times, exaggerated. Dork. "I had to come and get you from Brenda, Madi Moo." "Joshua, if you come up with those ugly nicknames one more time, I'll paint your hair red," I said, teeth clenched, pushing him through the door to the stairs. Brenda, Sophia, and Benjamin were all waiting and seemed to have the same reaction as Joshua.

I sat in the car, fumbling nervously with my fingers. I hated surprises, especially if I didn't know what to expect. Even though it was only a fifteen-minute drive, it seemed longer. It seemed to give me more nerves. We finally stopped in front of a small room, something they called a party room in the Netherlands. I didn't know what to expect. "Wait, wait, wait," Brenda shouted just before we reached the door. Suddenly I got two hands in front of my eyes, and I didn't see anything anymore. Nice, that was also possible. She pushed me further forward and pointed me as well as she could. However, she could not prevent me from crashing into something. I didn't know what it was, but Joshua seemed to think it was funny. He was almost lying on the floor laughing.

Suddenly the hands disappeared before my eyes, and the light blinded me. At that exact moment, they echoed, "Happy Birthday!" through the hall. About 20 people in front of me, including my host family, were all with a grin on their faces. Only I didn't recognize most of them because the light was still blinding me. When I finally got used to it, I saw a lot of familiar faces. Sophia, Milan, Mom and Dad, Austin. Wait, Mom and Dad? I rushed to them as quickly as I could and hugged them to death. "Mom! Dad!"

"Ehm... Can I have your attention?" I was on the small stage with the microphone in my hand. I happily looked around the room and started my speech to thank the people who had come. They were all wonderful. Under my speech, I looked at them all piece by piece, in addition to my parents, Ellison and Billy, who had also come over from the Netherlands. They were good friends, and it was good to see them again finally. Austin, Mia, and Milan also had come, just like four other girls who apparently would be in my class. They were all lovely and even bought gifts: clothing, gift vouchers, tickets, CDs - including a cd from Austin- and much more. But the best gift came from Austin.

In addition to the fact that he had sung for me, which I found utterly perfect, and the congratulations card - I also received an iPhone. I stared at him for five minutes at a time and then started to scream at him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, Austin! I am eternally grateful to you. Aaah, I love you!" Immediately afterward, I got a redhead, but most thought what I said was normal. Only Brenda wiggled her eyebrows, and Austin, who tried to react tough, reacted differently. "So ehm. Thank you for giving this great party. I will never forget it." While I was saying that, my gaze stuck to Austin for a moment, and for a moment, I was completely caught in his eyes. I walked quickly off the stage to begin the karaoke and immediately went to a chair.

I didn't feel like going to the party; I was tired.
