"You have a hard time." I sat down at our regular place to eat. I laid my head down on my bag and turned my face to Brenda, sitting next to me. I sighed loudly. I hated Mondays. The fact that I still hadn't seen Austin didn't make my mood any better. I had searched in the entire break time, but he was missing. When I finally heard many screaming girls, the bell rang, and I had to give up. It was good that he had lessons with me in the afternoon. "You look pleased too." Brenda looked at me cheerfully. "Yes, very much." The sarcasm was clearly audible in my voice. "I hate school." "Ah." Brenda's smile got stuck on her face, and I wondered what made her so happy. Just when I wanted to ask about it, I heard the soft trembling of my iPhone. I tipped my bag on the table and sorted it out. I unlocked it and quickly went to the message. A smile graced my mouth when I saw who the sender was.
I didn't know how quickly I had to get up, and I quickly stuffed everything back into my bag. I almost threw my bag at Brenda instead of over my shoulder in my rush. Joshua and Colby, who had just come by, watched me in surprise. I walked through the hallways, and the few people still walking in the hall looked after me strangely. I ignored their looks and walked on as fast.
The music room was around the next corner, slowly increasing my pace. When I reached the door, I stopped and took a deep breath. I waited a few more seconds to be a little more regular for my breathing, and I walked inside. I searched the room with my eyes, but nowhere was Austin visible. It was tranquil in the room, and there was no indication of anyone's presence. After searching three times, without result, I went to a table and hoisted myself on it. My shoulders went down a little, and the radiant smile was now a tiny, modest smile. I pulled out my iPhone and opened a new message.
I heard a soft trembling behind me, and as I turned around, I looked straight into Austin's radiant face. "Here." There were some melted pieces of snow in his hair, and his cheeks were red with cold, just like his nose. His face was decorated with a big smile. I jumped off the table and grinned in front of him. "Hay!" "Hey, baby," he whispered back before his hand stroked my cheek. I put my arms around him and rested my head on his chest. An attitude that I could hold forever. I closed my eyes and listened to his regular heartbeat, his hands rubbing my back.
I felt his lips on my forehead and melted away. "I'm probably weird, but I missed you." I raised my head and shook my head. "You were not the only one. I think I missed you even more." "That is almost impossible." was his reply. I wanted to go into it, but his eyes smothered my protest. The only thing I could do was stare back. The bell broke through our cozy get-together, and I sighed loudly. "Stupid school." Austin laughed softly and slid off the couch. He threw his bag over his shoulder and pulled me by the hand to the door. I froze and looked at our entangled hands. "Are you sure?" Austin looked at me incomprehensively, but I kept staring at our hands.
Slowly the pieces of the puzzle fell together.
