CHAPTER 20

I wake up from an uneasy slumber. My body lies wrapped with a soft duvet, I try to sit up making my damp hair fall on my back, my left-hand aches painfully. I pull my arm from the duvet to find it stripped red, a large red handprint engraved on it. And then my memory comes back to me.

I sat there drowned in my own tears, the bitter flash of the past tearing me apart. It's not the first time I've encountered such an incident it happened a lot of times but each time I always had someone beside me but now I'm in some stranger's house.

Strangers house? I haven't realized that until now.

I look around the small room with light green walls, brown carpet matting the wooden floor, a large trophy placed proudly at the corner of the room. Beside me on the lampstand was a BIBLE, the BIBLE and the trophy appearing quite familiar. I hear footsteps behind the closed door and I quickly wipe my flooded eyes.

The door opens revealing a handsome face. He grins brightly as he approaches me handing me a mug of hot chocolates crowded with marshmallows.

"Hey Han!"Luke chirped.

"Hi, Luke."

"How did I come here?" I asked once I swallowed all the marshmallows.

"Hmm...... I saw you unconscious on the road, so I picked you up, and here you are."

I sigh, Thankful that Luke found me.

"Don't worry Hannah, my friends will take care. Right now enjoy the hot chocolate."

My tongue relishes on the warm drink soothing my parched throat.

"I'm sorry Luke, I judged you really wrong. I believed in all the rumors and......"I just couldn't continue, my guilt choked my voice.

"There nothing wrong in you judging me like that Han, I really was that rude."

I lift my weary eyes from my mug to find him staring down at the floor.

"But I hope to become a GODLY man someday."

"I can see you trying." He smiles still avoiding my eyes.

"What time is it?" I ask when my gaze lands on the window.

He pulls out his phone from his pocket and replies, "It's eight."

"Eight!" I gasp, jumping out of bed.

"Can I drop you?" He offers.

I nod.

I wait outside as he brings his car out of the garage. He runs to my side opening the door for me, the gesture bringing a smile on my tired face. His car is so spacious and beautiful, I scan around as he plops into the driver's seat.

"Is this your car?"

He simply shrugs.

I exhale deeply once he stations his car in front of my house, "Thank you so much, Luke! For saving me, for being such an amazing friend for....for everything."He laughs loudly simultaneously shaking his head.

"I'm happy that you're working hard as a Christian each day, reading the word of GOD and praying with us. I know it's tough because you choose us out of all the fans you have in school. That's so great Luke and I like that about you."

I strangely admired his blue eyes, it changed hues every second. It weighed pain and anguish but behind all of that, there was something that attracted me. A car honked around us making me withdraw from the spell of his strong gaze, I flushed furiously not knowing for how long I stayed like that.

"Good night Luke," I say, hiding my flushed face. Before he could reply I close the door behind me.

I explained everything to my parents and also informed them about Luke's friends taking care of the matter. Dad walked out furiously, mom sobbed beside me making me comfort her. I reach my room after a while, clad myself with fresh clothes, and fall on my knees.

"Thank you, FATHER! for another new day. Thank you for providing me the strength and protection throughout this special day. LORD! Bless Brian fill him with your love and peace that he may repent and come back to you. Thank you for Luke to LORD! for sending him to my rescue and for the comfort of his home. Bless your son, FATHER, that he may never forsake you always. Forgive me if I sinned today. AMEN!"

I sleep the next moment I step into bed.
