CHAPTER 46

LUKE's POV;

'Judith' how can I be so blind? So stupid to realize, that the special person in my life was right in front of me. 'I'm looking but not really seeing' is so true. How elegantly she carried herself in that lavender dress, how her eyes glittered when it met mine; like something was holding her back from sliding the ring into that man. From all the women I met, I've never met someone like Judi who could handle her emotions so easily. This proves that she was wise enough to not choose to be a slave to her emotions; unlike me. I was so close to kissing her but Mr. Williams intercepted the greatest moment of my life.

He stood there, his arms crossed against his chest, his eyes glaring at me. Right, the role of every father.

"Mr. Marshall." He called out, stopping me on my heels.

"May I have a word." He sounded so formal, but I know in reality he is gonna kick my butt.

I approached him slowly eyes traveling around the neighborhood.

He locked the main door behind him and dropped the keys in his pocket.

"Good evening, Mr. Williams." Still imaging him scolding a fully grown man.

"Shall we have a walk?" He suggested.

"Sure," I answer without thinking.

"So, what do you do for a living?"

"I work for the Marcus Industries sir....."

"In Darvey?" He interrupted.

"Yes sir."

"So you are here for the project with Mr. Lan, right?"

"Yes......how do you know?"

"You signed the project with the Martin's through Lan." He informed.

He sat down on the bench and motioned me to sit beside him.

"I have been working with the Martin's for a very long time." He continued.

"But now I realize their true colors. They knew all this...they knew all this..." He swallowed hard.

I sat there helpless, not knowing how to react.

"It was my fault, I chose Isaac for Judi, I made all the arrangements thinking the Martin's were humble enough to choose my daughter from all the offers he received. Little did I know that they were playing games with my family. Judi agreed on everything quietly from the beginning; the only thought in her mind that her parents will always provide her the best. Now, she is suffering all because of me...all because I was greedy for power." His voice cracked in the end.

He looked away, biting his lower lip.

"Sir, you shouldn't blame yourself." I tried to console them but at the same time wondered why did he pick me to share his feelings.

He sits straight abruptly, sucking in a course of air, and wiped his face with his handkerchief.

"You are a nice guy Luke but you shouldn't have climbed up to her room without my permission."

My eyes go wide, 'What!' I mentally scream.

"You think I didn't know? Every night climbing up to her room, studying together, watching movies, baking cakes, spent the night on her couch, you think I'm so dumb to not know?"

I was dumbstruck.

"She shaped you in CHRIST but you threw Him away, threw her away, and desired a path that is not worth you."

I never felt so embarrassed.

"GOD always desires the best for you, just because that didn't match with your plan; you cannot throw it or run from it. From the time you were missing, she was so depressed and hurt. Every night I heard her cries for a man who buried her in the back of his mind. And now you appear from nowhere and try to kiss my daughter right under my eyes." He scolded.

"I'm sorry sir." I never felt so guilty.

"I don't know what pushed you to do that nor do I care but I'm sure second chances don't come around that much." His brown eyes showed concern.

I nod.

"Can I pray for you?" He offers.

"Heavenly Father, I thank you for this day for giving your son Luke an opportunity to repent. Give him the strength to face his past, to solve, and to live a bound-free life. Guide him back to faith and fill him with your mercy and love that he may never forsake you again. I ask this in your most powerful name, Amen."

"Amen," I repeat.

"So I believe you will be united with CHRIST again?"

"I will sir."

He grins.

"Just promise me you will keep my daughter happy...always."

"I will sir."

Wait, what does he mean by that.

"Sir, why are you asking me that?"

"Okay, Good night Mr. Marshall." He left with quick steps, ignoring my question completely.
