LUKE's POV;
Her room lot different than what I last saw. Lavender was all around me, the walls, the bed, the wardrobe, and her dress. There were new BIBLE quotes on the wall and the small black wall had been replaced with a bulletin board and a few pictures were pinned on it. A sob broke out from her, pulling my attention to the huddled body against the wooden door. I sat beside her not wanting to disturb her but the sight of her shaking body didn't stop me from placing my arm around her shoulder and drawing her close to my chest. She cuddles gently as I soothe her arm; hoping to comfort her.
"You know, when I would see you again I prepared my mind to slap you; But look what fate turns out to be?" She whispers under my arm.
I chuckled.
"Your laughing? I'm very serious." Releasing from the embrace.
She raises her hand as though slapping me; I shut my eyes expecting a tight blow but instead, she reached the corner of my lips wiping it gently.
"My engagement is broken, my life has turned humiliated, there is so much violence and chaos down there, and your busy munching cake?"
"I just couldn't resist it," I answer suppressing a laugh.
"Very funny." She rolled her eyes.
Her fingers circling my beard brought tingles down my body. She had grown so beautiful! Acne that covered her forehead had disappeared, her chubby cheeks had slimmed down and she looked a lot fitter than before.
"Are you done checking me out?" The old Judi would have never asked that.
"You have grown so beau.....different...a good difference a... a healthier one."
Why am I shuttering?
"Yeah, I had to follow some strict diets and that prevented me from baking cakes."
She sighed,I huffed.
"Look at you too, sporting a beard, blazer, and ...stuff."
I laughed making her laugh too.
Why am I laughing so much?
After an uncomfortable silence, I add on, "So tell me your story."
She looks at me for a while as if reading me whether I was serious and then she began a long story, a tale; but what she didn't notice is ' I had been watching her', more like admiring her the whole time. The evening rays flashed into the windows of her room, enlightening her face. This was the first time I ever saw her beautiful brown eyes: glassy and glittery from all the tears it had been washed. My heart longed to keep watching it, to drink up that warm chocolate embedded in her perfectly shaped eyelids. She seemed too busy talking about her work exploration and experiences but when her eyes caught mine she flushed furiously shutting her mouth immediately.
'Gosh! I could read this woman like a book.'
"Now tell me yours." She gathers the courage to look at me.
A brief tale was all I could club together in a boring past something totally opposite to her journey. Still midway through my speech, we hear footsteps climbing up the wooden stairs. A soft knock followed by a male voice.
"Sweetpea."
'Dad' She mouths motioning me to the bathroom.
"Mom, Dad just give me space." That was the last thing I heard from Judi, a small thud revealed she had closed the door.
I peep through the door finding no traces of her parents I walked towards her seated quietly on the floor supporting her frame to the bed. She lifts her head and smiles as if nothing had happened.
"Don't you want to know why I wanted to slap you?" She asked completely changing the topic.
