JUDITH'S POV;
I wake up, the sunlight creeping into my eyes darkness replacing the light. The sunlight somehow absorbing my sleep away. My throat itches uncomfortably, I gulp down water but it doesn't help. Sitting with my arms positioned to hold my leaning body, my eyes adjust to the light illuminating my room. My gaze falls on my mini blackboard, a faint scribbling appears on it.
I blink a few times wiping the sleepiness away, "Thank you." It wrote, and all the events of yesterday flood my mind. For a while, I did not understand why he wrote thank you but then if my instincts are right it could be because I listened to his story or I provided him shelter. I'm not sure.
My gaze falls on the couch, the disturbed appearance of someone lay last night. I sneeze a few times, my sour throat itched more.
"Judi, it's time for school."Mom yells downstairs.
I fresh up and jog downstairs, my backpack lying lazily on my shoulders. I sneeze again grabbing my parent's attention.
"Excuse me," I mutter.
Dad exits the kitchen appearing later with a tablet.
Mom offers a cup of warm ginger tea and pancakes. I relish it the warmth soothing me.
"Honey, you still haven't explained where did you go last night." Mom inquires.
"Mom, yesterday was Hannah's birthday," I inform.
"Oh! I forgot Honey, can you give her belated wishes from us." She smacks her forehead.
"Sure mom."
"Did you go all alone?.......but the cake is right here."My suspicious Dad inquires.
"I came back again because of the rains," I answer completely dodging the first question.
"Did you go alone?" Mom repeats.
"Hmm, No........my friend came along."I didn't want to tell them that 'this friend' is a'.
I swallow the tablet not ready to answer any more questions.
"Do you wanna stay back?" Mom offers.
"No, I'm fine! I can manage." It's better to go to school than roam around the lonely house.
I pack to exit, the conversation getting uncomfortable.
"If it gets worse, just inform me, "Dad assures.
I nod.
The entire school is thick with heavy talks about the rain last night. I rush to my lockers to find Hannah waiting beside it.
"Hannah, I'm sorry I couldn't make it up last night." I apologize.
"Judi, look at you, you're sick!!" She gasps. "Did you get wet?"
I nod slowly guilt surging me.
"Judi, your pendant was the best gift I could ever receive." She admits.
"Thanks, Han." I utter.
"It's fine if you couldn't get your cake last night." Her green eyes painted concern.
"It's just flu Han, I'll be fine. By the way, I have the cake in my backpack." I try changing the topic.
"See you could give me the cake the next day." The bell rang as I shovel my books in my locker quickly.
"I can't wait to eat it." She sounds excited, making me grin.

"Mmmmm...." Hannah groans tasting my cake.
" Awesome cake." Ethan mumbles.
" Last time she made chocolate cheesecake, trust me it was so delicious!!" Hannah yelps.
"Stop it, Han."I could feel my cheeks heat up.
"You designed the cake so well." Ethan chirps.
"Actually Luke did that," I inform.
"Wow Luke, I didn't know you could do that," Hannah exclaims.
Luke fake smiles, his head still buried under his hoodie.
"Luke, are you alright?" She asks, placing her hand on his.
He straightens his gaze still not meeting anyone.
"Are you sick?" She continues.
"I'm fine...It's nothing." He abruptly answers.
Ethan stares at the way Hannah's hands rest on Luke.
She lets go of his hand and continues eating her cake.
I clear my pink nose, my third tissue wet, my nasal blocked and my head feels heavy. I recall my dad's words but I don't wanna call him. His workload is heavy and I can't call him to just drop me home which is a few blocks away.
Tomorrow is a sabbath anyhow, I can sleep the whole day without being worried about missing my notes.
"Do you want me to drop you home?" Hannah offers after the last bell of the day rang.
"I'll drop her," Luke replies the only few words which came out of him today.
"Take care, Judi." Hannah nudges my arm.
"Sure," I whisper.
The way home was quick, Luke drives another car stations it on the sidewalk.
"Luke can you at least speak to me," I beg.
" I feel so guilty, Judi. I just couldn't face her."
"Luke, GOD's planned a great plan for you, greater than what your heart desires. We must be patient enough to let him execute his plan for us. He knows what's best for you, he knows what you need, before you even ask." I exhale through my mouth my nostrils drying out.
" Did you pray about this?"
"I guess so." He shrugs.
" Next time you inquire of him, then make your plans. You know that GOD's plan always prospers, right." He nods absorbing what I said.
"We have faith, but sometimes it turns Hasty, you know." He sniffles, his blue eyes finally landing on me.
"Get some rest." He utters making me stop midway from exiting.
"You too." He smiles genuinely.
