HANNAH's POV;
This evening is so serene... The ocean blue sky turned grey. I inhale the rainy soil, my heart leaped for joy.
Joy? I don't know why I'm so happy. Let me guess, it's JESUS in my heart. My arm bears my shopping bags obeying my mom's orders. The heavy wind moisturizing my face as I walk through the concrete floor. I love the rain! It's like the heavens shower down blessings on Earth. I want to let go of my umbrella and dance to the rhythm of the pattering rain. But I hesitate, Why? I don't want to lie in bed with the terrible flu the following days.
From the time I met JESUS, my life has been always cheerful and happy. By the power of prayer my hurdles have been dissolved and my desires satisfied. The soft drizzle kisses my warm skin bringing chills down my spine.
My gaze falls on a man taking shelter under an old wrecked shop. His haunted frame leaned against the dirt-smeared wall. His hands clasped his mouth as he lit the deadly stick and brought it down dusting the ashes simultaneously exhaling the toxic smoke polluting the wet air.
"Brian," I mutter under my breath. I involuntarily look around but find myself all alone with the devil himself. I'm just yards away from him and I have no other way than to pass by him in this deserted place. I quicken my steps and walked past him hiding under my umbrella.
"Hannah."He whispers as if he spoke through the deadly smoke. My legs froze as he mentions my name as though casting a spell on my legs. I was yards away from him but it felt like he stood right beside me. It was not just a feeling but he really stood beside me, his footsteps were so quiet like a wild cat. His dark eyes drilled through mine as my immunity comes tumbling down.
"Missed me?" He asked, his breath weighing tons of tobacco. Every fiber in my body wanted to run, run from his dark gaze, run from this deserted place, and never turn back but my legs never obey.
"Let me go, Brian." My voice barely a whisper against the thick cloud of smoke around me.
"Your growing so beautiful Babe."He comments as he tightens the grip around my fingers.
"Your evergreen eyes like a grassy meadow, your sharp nose....." He continues as he traces my face with his filthy fingers. I shook my head vigorously as I shut my eyes tightly to wake up from this horrific nightmare. My heart pounded so loudly threatening to break my ribcage.
"I love you so much Hannah......more than anyone could."He lied so sincerely. I sob bitterly twisting my arm to break free from his tightened grip. I've heard that lot of times from his mouth but never once did I ever rejoice.
"No!.....No one could ever love me than JESUS, "I respond making him mad. He slapped me hard, so hard my cheek burned a fire, pushing me to the concrete floor drenching me completely through the downpour.
"Stop saying that NAME!!!" He yelled deafening me. He lifted my umbrella and smashed it hard on the ground several times. I crawl backward my mind imagining me in the place of the umbrella. He caught me and lifted me like a stuffed toy, his fingers wrapped my arms like iron fitters.
"You cannot abandon me this time, you are mine and will always be!"
I pulled, shook, and did all kinds of things just to escape myself from his clutches.
"Please Brian, Let me go!!" I beg He dragged me down the deserted sidewalk. My efforts were useless. Out in the distance, I could see dark figures standing on our path.
"Help!" I holler a couple of times, Brian stops midway. He turned around to find more dark figures engulfing us. He loosens my grip and ran, making the dark figures chase him. My legs give way and I fall to the ground my energy draining from me and everything goes dark.
