JUDITH's POV;
' Lay me down, Lay me down......
Oooo
Hand over my heart is much is true
There is no life apart from you
Lay.......'
The doorbell rings interrupting the music in my veins.
"Come in." Too busy to attend.
"I didn't know you will come back so soon." I manage to say between the lyrics.
I press the pause button, dropping the knife on the board, and turn to face an unexpected person.
He slouched on the table, his eyes soggy and tired, "Hi! We meet again."
"Hey, I didn't expect you in this hour."
"Yeah me too." He scratched his neck.
"Is everything okay?" I inquire.
"Yeah I'm good, just thought to see you."
"Well, it's a good time. My parents are out for dinner."
"Great." Luke breathed.
"Is there anything you wanna talk about? I mean if you want to, I'm not forcin....."
"I met my parents." He answers, shutting me off.
" You did? When?"
He explains slowly, his gaze not once meeting mine.
I hugged him that was all that I could do. He apologized to those parents who don't even deserve his apology. As far as I know, he is blameless.
We pull apart after a while, he reaches for my cheeks wiping my own tears. He offers a weak smile making me blush against those warm tears.
"Are you hungry? I made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner." I say, distracting myself.
Dinner was simple, warm, and sweet.
Luke told me how he changed his name from 'Marshall' to 'Manchas'. I know he should have mentioned it before but it was appropriate because we laughed at the way 'Manchas' sounded like a 'Macho'.
After dinner I showed him my art gallery, the trophies I won in college and the memorial albums I collected during the vacations I spent in Diamin, Volch, Tuam, and Addy.
I rest on the door frame, eyeing him as he ties his shoelace efficiently.
Luke stands awkwardly, his weight shifting between his feet, his eyes dancing between the floor and me and his mouth opens to say something but he closes it abruptly.
I stood there trying to understand his body language.
"Ca...Can I ask you something, Judi?" His voice is twitchy.
"Hmm." I nod.
He moves closer, intertwining my fingers with him. I couldn't help but stare at it, as I hear the words that exploded in my heart," Will you come on a date with me?"
Suddenly I felt my heart drop and blood rushing to my cheeks.
"I've been an Idiot, a total jerk to not realize it's you, it's you who GOD showed me to be. You lead me to JESUS the greatest gift I could ever receive and I dumped him and you think you were just visitors in the journey of my life. Throwing the greatest love was the worst downfall I could ever experience. I wanna come back to you, not just as a friend but more than that. I've got a second chance and I'm not gonna leave it. So will you be by my side in this journey of life, strengthening my faith towards CHRIST?"
Tears run down my cheeks like rivers, I pounce on him hugging his neck as tight as I could. "Yes! Yes! Yes! I would be by your side forever and none of the past would matter." I squeal my lungs out.
He twirls me around, our giggles echoing in the hallway. Once my feet touch the floor, he places a firm kiss on my forehead, waking the dormant butterflies from my stomach.
To bid him bye was the worst of all. I blew him a kiss which he acted as he caught and he blew back me one.
My face never felt so heavy until now and my stomach never felt so light until now.
I run upstairs, closing the door behind me as I kneel down praying a million thank you to the HEAVENLY FATHER for his greatest plan.
