Seven years later
A rainy night
I dump myself on the seat of my car partially wet by the downpour.
I head to a familiar road
My car's headlight providing the only illumination to the dark street.
'What happened to the streetlight?' I wonder.
I see an outline of a woman trying to cross the road.
I hear the screech of tires, the woman collides with my car, her face clearly visible against the cleaning wipers.
"Luke!!" She screams.
I rip open my eyes, sitting erect on my bed, my heart pounding against my chest and sweat breaking through my body. The woman's screams echoed in my ears simultaneously the scene repeated in my mind.
I shake my head vigorously trying to slip that scene from my brain.
"Hannah," I mutter, recognizing the woman.
I exhale continuously reminding myself it's just a dream.
It's been so long since I've gone back. I want to be like a river constantly flowing and never turning back. I've dumped my past and I'm never going back.
I jump out of bed wearing my shoes and jog out of my apartment.

I step into the skyscraper many employees greeting me.
"Good morning, Mr. Manchas." Claire, my assistant greets me offering a cup of coffee.
The name 'Manchas' seems bitter rather than tagging me with the title of my father. 'Marshall' was what my father was known for even though he should be labeled Marcus. My uncle George Marcus was sincere enough to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather. Despite the number of failures during The late Marcus' reign, Uncle George stood by him, not a coward like my father. Now it's one of the leading companies in the country.
The elevator clicks open on the fifty-fourth floor, bringing me back to earth.
"Sir, Mr. Marcus is waiting for you in the conference room."She informed.
"I'm heading right there." I muse.
"Good Morning Uncle George." His head shoots up from his laptop by my proclamation.
"It's such a pleasure to see you, Luke." He welcomes me with a warm hug. No matter how busy he was he would always make sure to spend some time with me. It's one of the reasons I love him about him. I wish he was my Dad but I don't understand why GOD would not provide someone who most deserves. For the past seven years, the word GOD never slipped out of my mouth.
"So how was Merodam?" I inquire.
"It was such a beautiful place, amazing people and....the food was awesome. Remind me to take you next time." He enlightens.
"Sure, that would be fun."
"So any news?"
"Yeah but I'm pretty sure you won't like it."
"It's okay.......just tell me."I don't like surprises.
"There is a new project in Rosenmud. And the meeting is held today afternoon."
I sigh, the dream reminding me.
"There are no other projects right now, you need to wait six months for the next." A frown appears on his thin lips.
"Okay Uncle G I'll go."
"I'm not forcing you, it's just an offer."
"I'm going ........I'm telling you before I change my mind."
"Fine, your car will be waiting."
I turn on my heels and head downstairs.

AUTHOR's NOTE;
It's 1k guys!!! and it appeared correctly on the new year. I'm so thankful guys for choosing my book out of all the amazing books on Wattpad. It encouraged me to write further, pushing all the thoughts that Christian books would not get many reads than the other books. I just hope, I'm being true to the GOSPEL, spreading the word in Truth.
Is anyone binge-reading?
