Chapter 15: A Friend or Foe?

ELISE'S POV

Friday morning, defense class, I'm surprised Carter wasn't there. Hindi naman siya absent, dahil mukhang hindi sa klase ni Mr. Jones lang siya wala, kundi sa buong school. I tried to return his coat before class, but he's not in his dorm room either. Napadaan din ako sa kwarto ni Elle, wala rin siya. Siguro magkasama sila ngayon?

I shook the thought away and picked the dagger on the table and aimed for the dummy target. Why did I care? She must have succeeded seducing him. I'm so annoyed at Elle's existence that I didn't like it whenever she gets what she wants.

The dagger hit the dummy's neck, I practiced different weapons. Bows and arrows, daggers, firearms etc. At mukhang nag-iimprove naman ako. After 4 hours of practicing alone, Out of 15 arrow aims, 13 reached the target paper through the second or third circle, and the 2 arrows hit the red dot. And dagger aims isn't that bad. Atlast! If Carter were here, ang saya sigurong magyabang sa kanya ngayon. I nearly slapped myself, Carter is occupying my thoughts right now. Seriously? Where is he?

Feeling sweaty all over me, I hurried back to the dormitory and changed my PE uniform, napatingin ako sa higaan ni Flare, she's still in the medical wing and hasn't woke up yet. We convinced our friends to have a rotation visit and who will stay with her every night even though there's enough nurse who can cater the night shift.

We were able to getaway with any suspicions by using that excuse that it would be nice if Flare will first see one of her friends once regained consciousness which everyone agrees.

When I looked at myself at the mirror, I remember what happened last night. We have so much in our plates right now; neolution, guarding Flare while she's on her weakest state; the power combat is fast approaching.

I'm not a good fighter, I cannot also use my clairvoyance in the battlefield, my ability is so shitty.

Pertaining to the ability of clear-sightedness, clairvoyance refers to the paranormal ability to see persons and events that are distant in time or space. It can be divided into roughly three classes: precognition, the ability to perceive or predict future events, retrocognition, the ability to see past events, and remote viewing, the perception of contemporary events happening outside of the range of normal perception.

I know I can do precognition, retrocognition at remote viewing, but I haven't mastered how to use it or I wasn't just putting enough effort. My visions usually take me by surprise and I don't know what usually triggers it. During my psychic class on how to master the clairvoyance ability, you have to think of something or someone, and it will lead you to take a glimpse of a vision that's related to it.

When I had a vision about someone telling me that "they have found me, and they will help me be stronger," I know for sure that she's talking about the Cross Institute. But I haven't found out who that lady is, she never appeared in my visions again. I also don't know what made me think of something that can relate to her.

When I had a vision about two men talking behind with a mask when I was still in St. Mary's, I remembered that I was unconsciously thinking of Stan's generosity of giving me enough space when we are in a jeep on the way to school.

Nang dahil sa nangyari kagabi, hindi ko maiwasan na isipin na posible kayang may kinalaman si Stan sa vision ko na 'yon? It might be that those two men in a mask are part of neolution and he might really be affiliated with them.

My heart sank and I couldn't help it. But I'll try to use my ability this time. Pinikit ko ang mga mata ko at nag focus. I think of the moments I spent with Stan even if we haven't really interacted.

Ilang segundo na rin ang nakalipas pero mukhang wala namang nangyayari, wala naman akong maramdamang kakaiba sa loob ko. I breathed again, and focused even harder. I tried to clear my minds away from distractions and think of only him, and then suddenly I felt the familiar warmth inside me, surging up from my toes to my head, to every parts of my body like my mind is gonna be off somewhere and wander.
