I laugh at some cheesy joke my dad says as the door opens. I look up at Uncle Thor. " Uncle Thor! Come to join the party? " I ask smiling. " There's plenty of room. The more the merrier. "
Dad chuckles at me and smiles at Uncle Thor. " Brother, I heard you have had quite an interesting experience with my daughter living with you. "
There's something off about Uncle Thor. He looks almost sad. Almost depressed. Like he's trying to cover whatever he has to say with a smile. He looks as if he were wishing he could disappear.
My smile, as well as my dad's, fades away. " What's wrong Uncle Thor? " I ask softly.
Part of me already knows the answer. My dad's leaving. I think dad knows too because he has this look. This look I can't describe.
" Well, " Uncle Thor sighs. " um, well, your father has to go. Back to Asgard. We were lucky enough to set up this meeting for you both, but he only has until three to get back to Asgard. "
" What? " I ask sitting up. " Dad, he has to leave? " I still don't want to believe this. No. No! They can't take him. I just got him back. After all this time.
" I am truly sorry. We have to get you back. " He looks at dad.
" No. " I cling onto my dad's arm. " Please. I just got him back. Please. "
Uncle Thor bites his lip. " We have to. I tried to give you as much time as I could. But, time is up. We must get you home and your father back to Asgard. "
" No. " Tears fill my eyes. " Please no. " I shake my head. " No. no. Don't. Don't take him. Don't let them take him! You're a God too, Uncle Thor. Do something! Make it bad weather. Do something. Please. Don't make him go. " I cry.
Uncle Thor looks up at the ceiling, trying to contain his tears. " I am sorry. I cannot. I have direct orders. "
" Daddy. " I hug him and he strokes my hair. " I don't want you to leave! "
" Shh. Shh. "His voice is a little different sound. He's trying to be strong. For me. " It is going to be alright darling. I must go back. It will be alright. I will see you again. "
" But daddy, I don-don't want you to, to le-leave! " I sob.
" I know. " Dad clears his throat. " I don't want to leave either. But, this is how it is. I have to go. Just think of all the fun we had today. " He says kissing my head.
" Daddy. " I sob and shake my head.
" Look at me, darling. " Dad lifts my head so it faces his. " I love you. " His eyes are shiny. " I love you so so much. Do not let anyone tell you differently. You are an amazing girl and I am so proud of you. Keep being you and be kind to your old uncle. " He chuckles sadly. " Do not let anyone bring you down. "
The door opens and some guards walk in. My heart races. No! They can't take him!!!!
Dad pays no mind to them. " Don't make the same mistakes I made. Be a good girl. I love you Aura. " I hug him tightly as they unhook him from the table. " I have to go now, but I will see you again. Stay strong. Behave and do not let anyone push you around. Tell them you have a dad who will hunt them down and make them regret messing with you. " He jokes, but this doesn't help. I cry harder. He kissed my cheek. " I love you Aura. "
" I love y-you too! Daddy doesn't go. Please! " I cry. I hold onto him, but the Uncle Thor gently pulls me away as the guards keep their distance.
" I have to go. I have to. " A tear falls down dad's cheek. " I love you Aura. "
Uncle Thor finally gets me away from dad. I crumple to the ground as dad gets lead out. " I love you darling. " He says to me with a choked-up voice.
" Daddy! " I cry. The door closes on him and I cry into my hands. Uncle Thor tries to calm me down. " I, I lo-love you too. " I whisper to the door as I cry.
He's gone. Again. But the only difference this time is that we weren't ripped from each other.
