Lover boy Chapter 72

" Did you know that Elephants can smell water three miles away? " Chase asks as he flips through some animal magazine. " Did you also know they are one of three mammals that goes through menopause? The only other two mammals are humpback whales and human girls. " He flips the page as he talks to no one in general. 

" What's menopause? " Tommy asks as he looks up from his cartoons that are playing on the TV. 

I look away from Tommy and Chase ignores the questions. " Did you know penguins propose to their mate by presenting them with a pebble? It's how they show part of their love. It's usually around breeding season. " My heart flops a little at the word love. Ugh!!!

 " What's your favorite animal Aura? " Chase asks as he looks up from the magazine. 

" Um, dogs. I think dogs are my favorite animals. " 

" Oh. Dogs are cute. Especially the ones with the scrunched up little faces. " He scrunches up his face and tries to copy the ones dogs make. 

I laugh and shake my head. " I think I like the dog's version of that better. " I tease. 

" What? " Chase puts a hand to his heart and makes an ' offended ' face. " My face if beautiful! How can you like a dog, a smelly, drool faced dog's, face more than mine? " He asks while dropping the magazine. 

I shrug. 

" I am way cuter than a dog! Don't you think so Rebecca? Marissa? Mia? " Chase asks his sister and Rebecca. 

Mia raises an eyebrow as she looks up at her younger brother. "  You? Beautiful? Nah. I mean, we both know I got the good looking gene's from our parents. " I don't know what happened to their mother. I think she died. I'm not sure though. 

Chase's jaw drops and he looks at Rebecca. " Please Bex. Issa. Tell me I'm pretty. " He wipes away a fake tear. 

Marissa giggles a bit and shakes her head. " Nope. You're not pretty. " 

" What?! " Chase wipes away another fake tear and makes a heart with his hands. He separates his hands so they're apart from each other. " You broke my heart. " He fake sniffles and turns to Rebecca. " Now you must think I'm good looking. My heart is broken. Please tell me I'm pretty. " 

Rebecca thinks for a minute and taps her chin. " Hmm. No. " 

" You women are cruel! Cruel cruel women! " Chase says as he lays across the couch lazily. 

" Would you stop trying to get girls to fall for you, Chase? Isn't it enough you have girls falling at your feet at school? " Clayton rolls his eyes. 

" You're just jealous Clay. I have a fan club and you don't. " Chase mumbles. 

" I'm not jealous. I'm happy to be away from all that girl drama. " Clayton sighs as his video game character dies. " Now, please leave me alone. I've got a game to win. " Clayton turns away from all of us and resets his character. 

" Nobody loves me. " Chase sighs and looks up at the ceiling. " Nobody loves me!! " One of his legs is draped on the couch and the other one is falling onto the floor. Same with his arms. " Nobody loves me! " 

" Son, what the heck are you doing? " Tony asks as he walks into the room. " Did you take a bit to much medicine this morning for that infection? " 

Chase sits up and blushes a bit. " Oh, dad. You don't even know what's going on. "
