Kai was meeting up with the pretty blonde girl Denise today. He wasn't sure how he felt. He didn't have emotions technically but he was excited about the fact that he would be out. He would be out with a girl who wasn't Caroline or Elena or Mary Beth.

Although he like Mary Beth and was grateful she saved his life. His plan was still in motion in his head. Only three and half more months and he was free.

Mary Beth was also meeting up with someone. Her boyfriend Owen Newborn. None of them liked him very much. Not even Kai. But to be fair, he didn't like most people.

He heard a knock oh his door while he was putting on his shirt. "Come in!" He called.

"Hey sorry it's just me. Just wanted to say good luck, so good luck." Mary Beth told him smiling. She was about to turn but then whipped back around. "Also don't kill anyone. Please." She reminded him.

"No promises."

"Kai! That's not funny." She told him sternly.

"I was kidding. I don't feel like having Damon kill me today, so I'll refrain from the murdering." He reassured her.

"Thank you." She smiled. Then she walked down the stairs. She was glad that he was going to get out. She was happy that he had a date. Denise could be the one he cares about most as if that happens, then she was making progress.

She was meeting Owen at the grill today. He was going to drive all the way down to meet her. She was happy that he was because it was usually her making the drive to go meet him.

Considering the good mood she was in she decided to walk to the grill instead. When she arrived she walked in and got herself a booth while she waited. She was there early, and he's supposed to show up in fifteen minutes. So she waited.

And waited. And waited.

Thirty minutes later she sees Kai walk in with Denise. He looked over to her immediately and gave her a look asking if she was okay.

She nodded her head, smiled and gave him a thumbs up. He's just a little late is all. He had to come at some time. So she continued to wait, and wait, and wait.

But Owen never came.

Mary Beth sat in her sad booth alone sipping her peanut butter milkshake thinking it would make her feel better because it was her favorite. But it didn't. If anything it made her more sad. Her mood went from giddy to upset in one afternoon.

In the corner earlier she looked over to Kai and Denise. She looked nervous about something. Like was asking him a question. Kai looked down the up again and nodded his head smiling. Denise got all happy and squealed. Then she went over to him and kissed him still excited.

Mary Beth had no idea how she was so happy before. She thought it was stupid to be that happy before. She pulled out her phone to text her late boyfriend to figure out where he was.

MB: Owen where are you?

It took a while for him to respond. But when he did it made her blood boil.

O: What do you mean?
MB: What do you mean what do I mean? We had a date today you were supposed to drive out here.
O: Oh man that's today?
MB: Yes!
O: You want me to drive out now?
MB: Just forget it it's getting late

Owen didn't respond after that and Mary Beth didn't want him too. She was hoping he would apologize but the apology never came. She wasn't that sad anymore she was angry. Angry that he forgot about her.

She had texted him yesterday to remind him about it. The nerve. She was about to give up on him and go home when someone sat down in front of her.

"This seat taken?" Kai asked.

"It was supposed to be." Mary Beth replied after a second.

"Now call me crazy. But isn't there supposed to be two people for these types of things?" Kai asked eating one of the fries she ordered.

"Yes. He wasn't able to make it." Mary Beth said still vexed.

Kai looked at her upset expression. He hadn't known her very long. But every time he saw her she was happy or smiling. Now she wasn't and for some reason he was concerned.

"Aren't you supposed to be on a date?" She asked wiping her nose.

"I was. We were out for three hours. Me and Denise had a fun time but I got a weird feeling that you were still here so I came to check on you." He explained.

"Crap it's been three hours?" She asked looking at her phone.

"Yeah. Sorry your date didn't show up."

"It's fine it doesn't matter he just got busy." She lied wiping her eyes nonchalantly.

Kai looked at her. She may say it doesn't matter but it does. It bothered her. It bothered him. It was weird. He said no more. He got up and held out her hand.

"Come on let's go home."
