✨Turn it off✨

"Don't make me make you turn it off." Klaus Mikaelson said. "Geez seven months and you'd think you'd have gotten over her by now."

"I am over her." Kai responded stepping over a dead body.

They were surrounded by dead bodies and covered head-to-toe in blood. They had themselves a little too much fun at a human party. He still remembers the first time he drank blood other than Mary Beth's seven months ago.

He tried not to think about her though. He tried not to think about anything anymore. If he did he would start feeling guilty. And Kai Parker does not feel guilty.

"Trust me friend. You are better off without her. Imagine what it's like back there right now. She's probably losing her mind." Klaus said.

"Your right. She's probably heart broken." Kai said laughing to mask his pain.

And it's true she was heart broken. She had just spent seven months without the love of her life. She was currently sitting in her room surrounded by a bunch of newspapers and maps. She had spent seven months looking for Kai. She was following where he went but never ended up finding him.

Her friend were slowly starting to lose interest in helping fine Kai. Which she understood. They had their own lives.

But Mary Beth never stopped. She had to keep going either until she found him, or until it killed her. She hasn't slept in three days. She got to many nightmares when she slept. But it didn't matter she didn't need sleep anyways. What she needed to do was find Kai.

What sucked was that the bad gut feeling went away. It was replaced with something much worse. Emptiness. She couldn't feel what Kai was feeling anymore. She didn't know if he was safe and okay or bleeding out in a ditch with a stake in his heart.

She felt empty all the time and she hated it. She hadn't smiled once in seven months and it was throwing everyone off. She hasn't made one joke or been sarcastic once.

Everyone was worried for her health especially Elena. She was one of the few people left looking for Kai. She wouldn't abandon Mary Beth like that when she stayed by her side when Stefan left.

Mary Beth wasn't sure she could take much more of this. Traveling the world without actually enjoying because she was too busy looking for her boyfriend.

She started to cry. Sobbing really. She wasn't loud but Elena could hear her. She contemplated going in to comfort her but then decided against it. She would just ask her to leave.

Mary Beth climbed in her bed and continued to cry. This wasn't how this was supposed to be. They were so close to leaving. Everyone knew they were going to leave. That's when they realized how much they loved each other and how hard this was for her.

Elena didn't care anymore. She walked into Mary Beth's room and her eyes flickered to her bed. She saw her crying sister on the bed and her heart broke.

She walked over and climbed into the bed with her. (Not in a creepy way) Elena wrapped her arms around her waist from behind and held her as she cried.

Mary Beth care that Elena saw her cry. She could t hold it in anyways. She couldn't be strong anymore. She broke down. She wanted the pain to end and the world to stop. This wasn't fair.

"I'm sorry." Mary Beth whispered still crying.

"For what?" Elena whispered.

"I've been so cold to you guys. I've been mentally checked out. I'm not even sure what I'm doing any more." She sobbed.

"It's okay." Elena replied holding her closer.

This reminded Elena of when they were kids. She would used to hold Mary Beth when thunder storms came. Mary Beth was deathly afraid of them. She would hold her close and sing the song her mom would sing them. That song. How did it go?

"You are my sunshine."

"What?" Mary Beth asked.

"My only sunshine." Elena continued.

Mary Beth relaxed a little and her sobbing stopped to just a few tears rolling down her cheeks.

"You make me happy when skies are grey."

The song really was helping Mary Beth. It reminded her of her mom. Or when her and Elena were kids and she would sing it to her then.

"You'll never know dear how much I love you."

The song had lulled Mary Beth to sleep now making Elena tired.

"Please don't take my sunshine away."
