Today was the day. He declared his feelings for Mary Beth to everyone but Mary Beth. Actually he only told Caroline and Elena but then they told Damon, Stefan, Bonnie and the rest of the Scooby gang.

He had to break up with Denise. It was only fair. How much a jerk would he be if he stayed with her while he was in love with someone else? He needed some reassurance. So he went to Caroline since he couldn't go to Mary Beth.

"Don't worry. Everything will be okay. She couldn't possibly take it that hard." She told him after Kai told her his plan.

"What if I say the wrong thing and offend her and I have to stay there and comfort her while she's crying?" He said pacing around the room.

"Kai that is not going to happen." The blonde reassured.

"Maybe she'll get so mad she'll kill you." Bonnie Bennett said in the background.

"Why are you like this? You aren't helping." He said.

"Considering as how you've actually killed me, I think it's okay for me not to like you." She replied.

"Eh that's fair."

"I'm still concerned as to why Mary Beth likes you in the first place." Bonnie said not looking up at her phone.

"Well I don't know it's probably a— Wait What?" He said stopping in his tracks.

"Ooh shoot. I'm actually not supposed to say that."

"Bonnie! We promised!" Caroline said throwing a pillow at her.

"Im sorry I'm sorry!" She said trying to dodge Caroline's flying pillows.

"Wait wait wait. She likes me back?" He said suddenly feeling very happy.

"Probably temporary." Bonnie said.

"Why are you even here? Where's your stupid boyfriend?" Caroline asked.

"Whatever forget it. The whole point of this plan was so that it didn't backfire on me and finding out that she likes me back makes me feel so much better about the whole thing." He said now walking out of the room.

They looked after him. Caroline wished him luck and then turned to Bonnie.

"Mary Beth is going to kill you." She said.

Mary Beth was sitting on the couch in the living room when she suddenly felt extremely happy. Her stomach felt weird but there was a good feeling in her. She figured it was just because she's a happy person but still thought it was weird.

Then Kai came through the front door with a look of happiness on his face. When Mary Beth saw him her face immediately lit up and she smiled widely at him.

"Ah Mary Beth just the person I was looking for." He said.

"Really?" She said putting her book down.

"I have a question."

"Do tell."

"Have you ever been in love?" He asked.

"What?" She asked. "Oh um, I'm not sure. Are you in love with someone?"

She asked that question with a smile but inside her stomach dropped. He was in love with Denise. Not her. Stop thinking about him.

"No. I do like someone though." He was only half lying. He didn't want to say his full feelings yet. What good would that do?

"Oh. Denise?" She asked feeling even sadder.
