Chaeyoung stared at Jennie for too long, and for the first time in her wicked life, she ran out of bitchiness, seeing Jennie's resolve.
"You really never learn, do you?" She then inhaled sharply, a tear betrayed her cocky evil smile.
"Chaeng." Jennie touched her arms knowing very well that Chaeyoung's defenses were crumbling.
"I destroyed you, I know. But this woman you're fighting for won't even hesitate to kill you! You still can't understand?!"
Jisoo stood up, with the intention to calm Chaeyoung down, not in a kind way though.
But before she could, Jennie pulled Chaeyoung in a tight embrace.
"Chaeng enough, stop this. Please. Stop." Jennie whispered soothing Chayoung's back, melting the latter in her arms.
Jisoo took a step back, brief disgust and disbelief took their turns on her face but finally resigned in an eye roll, then turned her gaze to Lisa.
Lisa here is the definition of resigned. She just can't.
Can't move. Can't think. Can't breathe.
How could she? When she knew Chaeyoung was telling the truth. That she would be the death of her wife. Literally.
Maybe not from her hands directly. But the longer she stays with Jennie, the more her wife's life is in danger.
And she doesn't know where to start, how to let her wife go.
Seeing her wife worried, embracing Chaeyoung. She's certain, she doesn't want to see Jennie loving anyone else.
But she can't be the one.
Jennie looked at her, meeting her defeated gaze and smiled apologetically with sad eyes.
Without a word, Lisa got what her wife was conveying and, she nodded.
Under her wife's permission, Jennie escorted Chaeyoung out of the empire, taking an exit where she knew malicious eyes won't notice them.
"Lisa what the hell?! That woman was just acting vulnerable for my stupid cousin would be soft with her! And you are just standing there?!" Jisoo raged, evidently pissed at her bias.
Jisoo was simply done with these clueless bitches.
"When will you both see that you love each other?"
Lisa's eyes widened. No.
Jennie can't love her.
All her energy escaped her being. With knees wobbling, she helplessly reached for the nearest swivel chair.
"Please Lisa, fight for your wife. I had never dreamt of Chaeyoung being an in-law for fuck's sake!" Frustrated Jisoo huffed, resting her hands on her waist with so much force.
"Chaeyoung's right Jisoo. You don't want me to fight for your cousin. Everything is true. The Chairman, my father..it's true Jisoo..."
Tired tears escaped Lisa's eyes. She haven't even got a hold of her shits since birth, but now she's losing it all.
She drape a quivering hand over her eyes. Not wiping them, she's feeling them falling, knowing letting them go would ease the heaviness of her heart.
Jisoo, unlike all the clueless characters in this fanfic, stared sympathetically at her favorite cousin in law.
She's too smart not to figure out that the Chairman shit triggered Lisa's alleged burn out.
And of course, she knew very well of the Manobans' true colors. They're studying every fiber of their competitors as thorough as with their potential business partners, and Manobans turned out to be both.
Trusting for Jisoo is never way too easy as for her cousin and uncle was. So it's not surprising that her expertise is in damage control.
The older Manoban is clever and evil, so the young Manoban is plotted inside the toughest competitor. The health shit is considerable and the deal is fruitful. The promise in it was what the Kims took the risk for.
Jennie's life is in danger since the beginning, and they all knew it, except Lisa who never take her father's words seriously, more like anything for that matter.
They've been knew even before Chapter 1.
"You know why we make contigency plans for, right?" Jisoo stated amused at her grieving cousin in law.
Perplexed Lisa, with her incessant flowing tears, looked up at Jisoo.
"No plan is perfect, Lisa. You should be proud that you're your father's biggest loophole, because I am."
Jisoo flashed her brightest smile at astounded Lisa, who's now wiping her face without any poise, like an astray child.
"Y-you're not mad..at me?"
"I'm mad! Hurry now, claim your wife! Chayoung might have pulled her at some vacant room down there. She worked here for years, remember?"
Lisa lurched up, and swiftly made her way to make the devil cry once more, but she halted and looked back at Jisoo.
"JISOO!"
"YOU'RE THE BEST COUSIN-IN-LAW REMEMBER THAT!"
Lisa, with relived spirits, shouted across the conference room as if they're not in formal attires and not honorable business' people.
Jisoo again returned Lisa's smile, and bid good luck using only her eyes, warmth spreading on their bosoms.
Bitch, this feeling is not just exclusive for lovesick puppies. It is the warmth you also feel for family.
And that's how these two see each other. It's not blood, but fate bound their souls together the way magical constellations are connected, stronger than any biological shit.
"Hays..So hard to be the only intellectual goddess in this fanfic!" Jisoo thought out loud, shaking her head.
Exhausted, she made her way back to her office.
To be continued...
