It is the last night of the then-Chairman's wake, so there's yo girl, Chaeyoung Park, entering the funeral dressed in black from head to toe.
What? It's reasonable. She's a business partner. And besides, she's not here to mourn for her ex daddy (applicable to all meaning and punctuation marks) but solely for the intention of comforting her baby.
It's given that whenever she appears in this fanfic, all eyes would be on her. She's drop-dead gorgeous, intriguing and suspicious.
Among those sea of eyes, there's a pair who'd always be the first and would last to notice her. The way her hair sways gracefully with her hips as she walks by and even the mischief under her angelic smile, all, was being taken note of by none other than her number one fan, her best friend. Director Jisoo Kim.
Jisoo had loathed Chaeng with so much passion that she even kept a database of everything hate-worthy about her, which is everything.
Well, it's not like she had chosen hatred as a way of living. It's just that she spends a lot of time with her uncle and her cousin's ex-girlfriend for their on-going project, wherein final decisions would be made by the Vice President.
If only she's not earnestly engaged in this ambitious project, and for a heart to implicitly smack the heads of her favorite cousin-in-law and it's wife, she, would never even dreamt of working with Maleficent.
Jisoo saw her bff approaching their seats, eyes locked on it's target with sly smile playing on those lips, a sight cringing the director's whole being.
She stood up, putting a show of greeting Chaeng before she could reach Jennie who's giggling inaudibly, as if she wasn't in a funeral, her father's funeral, at her wife who's wearing an offended expression.
"Didn't I tell you not to come?" Jisoo whispered with a genuine fake smile after kissing Judas' cheeks.
"I don't remember promising anything, most especially to you." Sweet Chaeng replied, returning the friendly gesture. Her heavenly voice had been sending Jisoo to hell since their past lives.
"You really don't know the word 'shame', do you?" Jisoo rebutted in her dazzling smile. Had been fooling people into thinking they're good friends.
Astounded with the remark, Chaeng executed an open-mouthed smirk.
"Don't worry director, I'll let you know the moment I started to care."
It's now Jisoo's turn for an open-mouthed smile.
"If you'll excuse me." Then Chaeng walked passed raging inside Jisoo, inhaling her obnoxious perfume before following suit.
Setting her senses on high alert, as always, Jisoo sat near her cousin. Chaeng's appearance evidently shookt the couple, whom for a second lost the strength to stand and receive their vistor, with different levels of astonishment on their faces.
Of course, Jennie would smile. Lisa's face is unfathomable. Jisoo was just at the side of the ring, watching.
The next move put Jisoo at the edge of her seat, Chaeng bending down to embrace Lisa, whispering something.
"Fix that face Manoban, I'm not here to start a war."
Jennie, with a concerned expression, reached for her wife's hand, unknowingly twisting the knife she had impaled to Chaeng's heart.
Unminding the pain, Chaeng smiled ardently at her ex baby.
The CEO gave her wife a reassuring smile before standing up, then eyes-widened when their business partner hugged her, tight.
Followed by Jennie's face posting a status, sleeping on the floor later.
And Lisoo's reax were an identical open-mouthed what the fuck.
"I've been wanting to do this since...your mom, but I was guilty then. So, I'm here. I have nothing to do with this now." Chaeng whispered, sincere.
Chaeng let go of the embrace, looking at Jennie's eyes thoughtfully, a pure expression she only shows for the only one she knows deserving.
"It's not your fault. It probably happened because it was meant to happen." Jennie gave Chaeng a tiny smile, both eyes were sad at the mention of the painful past.
An accident they say, a precautionary measure the Kims had agreed upon to bury the the sin her father had committed-the reason her mother took her own life. All the more reason for Jennie to burn his beloved empire down and be with the person who made her feel alive. But this a Jenlisa superior fanfic so condolence to my Chaennie heart.
"I am still sorry for not being there." Chaeng stated quietly, regret written all over her face.
Jennie nodded with a lip-tight smile, pulling in Chaeyoung for their last hug.
"You're here. You're forgiven." Jennie whispered with a contented smile.
"Thank you Chaeng."
Breaking the embrace, they stared at each other's eyes once more, with the comfort that washes away the guilt, a healing, for the wounds of the past.
Parted, taking their respective seats, both, with uplifted hearts.
To be continued...
