First off, thank you for 1k+ reads. Though I'm hundred percent sure, 90% of it was mine. I do appreciate the votes too. *fluttering feelings here ayii* And I, thank you.
Ok, back to The Deal.
Jennie had managed to guide her vulnerable ex to the exit, without the threat from prying eyes. And she was silent from then on, stifled cries from defeated Chaeyoung could only be heard until they reached the point of parting ways.
"Thank you." Defenseless Chaeyoung choked, running a free hand through her hair, eyes puffing from crying too much.
Jennie then gave her a tiny smile as an answer, still rubbing her thumb at the back of Chaeyoung's hand.
"I love you." Chaeyoung blurted out, rendering silent Jennie redundantly speechless.
"It never changed, though I know....I'm stupidly late." Tears began falling again from her eyes, reviving the already dried ones.
"But I'm here. I've waited years and I'm willing to wait for more."
Chaeyoung quivered with the excruciating pain in her heart, took both Jennie's hands and tenderly kissed the back of it.
Jennie's heart shattered hard at the sight of Chaeyoung's pleading eyes but she still had the energy to wipe those tears away.
"Chaeng, I don't want you to waste time waiting-"
"But you still love me. I can see, even just a bit. You still love me.. "
Desperate Chaeyoung directed Jennie's hands to her cheeks then the latter willingly cupped her face.
"Yes, I do, you'd always be special to me, nothing can change that."
Chaeyoung disregarded Jennie's sincerity. This is not what she wanted to hear.
"No! I don't want to be just a memory! I don't care! Make me your mistress!"
Her voice raised, noticeably loud, but they remained not alarmed. They both knew this conversation is needed.
"No one's deserving to that." Stern Jennie stated in a low voice, a rejection to Chaeyoung's despair.
"I already have everything I believe I deserved! This time I only want you...Tell me, how can I deserve you? What do you want me to change? What do you want me to do? Tell me. I'll do everything. I'll be everything you want. I'll give everything to deserve you. Jennie," Chaeyoung helplessly rambled, begging, without a single care if she looked like shit now.
Concede. Not in her vocabulary.
"Chaeng," Jennie looked her firmly in the eyes that made Chaeyoung's heart stop as if she knew what she was about to hear.
"I'm afraid this time,"
And with a grave expression, Jennie continued,
"I'm madly in love with my wife."
Falling tears. Breaking hearts. Abominable pain.
Jennie's words is absolute and so is her love, Chaeyoung knew it first-hand, heart sinking deep at the revelation she already know.
Jennie lifted Chaeyoung's head from hanging low, meeting the latter's disheartened gaze.
"Chaeng I don't want you to wait. The end of the deal won't guarantee the end of these feelings for my wife. You've done great with the years without me, you can do it again this time."
No. She. can. not. She only survived those years focusing her eyes towards the only light in her darkness. Her only light. Her only love.
"She doesn't love you the way I do Jennie. She's a fraud. She has a boyfriend before everything started.." Sobbing like a child, she's about to lay down the last card she has, though she knew very well, it won't matter anymore.
Devastated, is an understatement. And Jennie's heart broke more seeing that. Head down, as tears streamed freely down her eyes, she prepared herself for crushing their hears further.
"I know Chaeng, I know. And I also know that she can't love me back." With a smile and tears of unrequited love, Jennie accepted sweet defeat putting a hand in her aching heart. "I just can't hold this back."
"But I've no intentions of holding her back."
All of a sudden, Chaeyoung becomes sober. Yes, she knew about the true nature of the deal, but she didn't know the true nature of their relationship. She was convinced, JenLisa is real.
Just when she thought spilling the tea, Lisa recently breaking up with her boyfriend for ages to make her 'love' for Jennie looked real and palpable, would end Lisa's reign over her baby's heart, now here's Jennie, giving her hope through Lisa's lies.
She detached herself from Jennie's touch and fixed herself as her features tightened.
"I will love you still and nothing can change my mind."
With a devilish glint in her eyes, Chaeyoung gave Jennie a weak smile that grew into a smirk of triumph with reason unbeknownst to Jennie.
Jennie sighed rolling her eyes, at the stubbornness of her ex-lover.
"Nothing can change you're mind." Jennie repeated nodding, with an amused retreated smile. "Indeed."
"Not even you, being madly in love with your...wife." Chaeyoung playfully gagged at the word wife. But she really did, mentally.
Jennie snickered, shaking her head with a gummy smile, knowing there's no other way this conversation would end, but with them knowing where each other stand.
Amidst the roller-coaster ride of emotions happening at the building's parking lot, the Vice President and the Director were facing a sudden news that with no doubt would shake the morale of the whole empire.
Chairman Kim's death.
To be continued.....
Writing sad chapters makes me weak. As if I'm going through all the shit first before the characters do. Draining all my energy, extinguishing the fire in me. Sucks.
But fuck these vibes, I'm a sucker for happy endings. :)
