One foot in front of the other. It had been this way for about a hundred miles. It was day three and three quarters.
I checked on Jeff. Well, Jeff's body. Still cold. Still not breathing.
Still a living nightmare.
By this point, we were just carrying around a corpse. But I wasn't about to let his body be left to decompose.
"So, in about another hundred miles, we start heading west," BEN Drowned announced.
"Th-then what?" Toby stuttered, like always.
"Then, we keep going west another fifty miles."
"Well, as much as I love spending time and getting to know all of you better, I'm ready to go home," Judge Angels piped in.
"Me, too," I replied, keeping a close eye on Jeff. Was Jeff brain dead? Or was it just that his heart stopped? Is it possible for him to come back? Or... is it too late?
"(Y/N). I have confidence that Jeff is going to be fine. If what EJ does doesn't work, then I have some other tricks up my sleeve," Slender assured me.
"Like what?"
"I have some potions back home I made that brings a person back from the dead, but only that. You and the others would have to care for him until he is better."
"Okay... so no need to panic if EJ fails... alright," I told myself.
I sat down on a boulder and looked around at the gang of seventeen. Seventeen killers all in one place. It was a miracle nobody was killing each other if you think about it.
The sun was setting on the horizon. I could hardly see it in through all the trees, though.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" a voice said from behind.
I turned quickly to see BEN Drowned. He came up beside me and sat down on the same boulder.
"Yeah... just wish I could see it better."
"Well, when we get home, you can watch all the sunsets you want."
"Yeah..."
I heard a rustle in the brush.
"What was that?" I asked.
"What was what?"
"That noise. I heard something."
"Probably a squirrel."
"Yeah, probably..." I trailed off, not really believing it was a squirrel. My gut told me it was something bigger. Something dangerous.
We continued with our conversation. Saying this and that about sunsets.
"Then with this one sunset, the clouds surrounded the sun like a halo. It was quite mystifying."
"Wow, a big word for a gamer boy."
"Hey! I may be a gamer boy but don't you forget I can kill you in a snap."
"Ohhh I'm soo scared."
"You better be."
"Don't you know about a thing called sarcasm?"
"Yes, I do. Jeff uses it on me all the time."
"I hope Jeff is gonna be alright... He's been dead for over three days. If we don't get home soon, I'm scared maggots or something is gonna get into his body..."
"Eew... I don't want to think about it. Jeff is my bestest friend. Don't tell EJ, he thinks he's my bestest."
"I heard that!" Eyeless Jack hollered from several yards away.
