A Traitor is Among Us

"Hey, guys, you might wanna come and see this!" E.J. called, waving us over.

We untangled ourselves and walked over to him and the others.

"What is it?" I asked once we were over there

"This," he motioned below us. When I looked down, I was terrified to find that we were standing over a big trap. How it hadn't triggered yet, I didn't know.

"Toby disabled the trap, so no need to worry."

"Okay, good."

There was a net on the ground that was mostly covered in leaves. We didn't know who it was supposed to be for, but it wasn't there earlier.

We had a traitor among us. Who it was, I had no idea. But I knew for almost a fact that there's someone working for Sonic.exe.

But who?

"Slender, can I speak to you in private?"

"Sure, child."

I hated the nickname, but I could tolerate it. I was 18! Not a child.

Once we had gone away from the crowd of killers, I told him about how we had a traitor. About how the trap wasn't there twenty minutes ago.

"I suspected this, but hearing it from you confirms my suspicions. Judge Angels has been acting weird..."

"Seriously? You think it's Judge Angels?"

"Yes. The moment I saw her, I knew something was up."

"Whatever you say, I guess."

"Believe me. She just had a smug look on her face that said it all."

"You sure?"

"Positive."

"Okay. Well, I'm gonna go check on Jeff's body... ya know, make sure no maggots had gotten to him yet," I said, walking off. I went to Jeff's side and felt his cold hand. His cold, pale lips. His jet black hair.

His carved smile. It was no longer bleeding. His heart had stopped pumping blood a few days ago.

His body was starting to smell, but I didn't care.

"I love you, Jeffery," I whispered against his cold neck. I silently sobbed over his body.

"He loved you too," BEN said, coming behind me again. "He told me he was a lot happier with you around. He didn't feel so violent near you." He put his hand on my shoulder.

I choked up on tears. I leaned on BEN's shoulder, crying my heart out. There was a Jeff-sized hole in my heart. It'll be there until he gets revived.

BEN patted my head. I could tell he was also grieving, just silently.

Judge Angels came over. "Such a shame." I wanted to slap that smug look right off of her.

"Did you have anything to do with this?" I asked, deciding to get straight to the point.

"Me? No. That was all Amy.exe and Knuckles.exe."

"Something tells me you're lying."

"I'm not. I'm just it was a shame he died."

"But, E.J's gonna bring him back. Either him or Slenderman."

"Well,  I wish them luck. I don't know him, but to lose any member of the CP gang is sad."

"Yeah."

"Judge Angels. Can I speak with you?" Slender called.

"Coming," she answered, walking toward him.

Once Judge was out of earshot, BEN asked me, "What's up with her?"

"She's a potential suspect of treachery."

"Why?"

"The trap that we saw wasn't there when we first got here. Then it suddenly shows up. Slender said that he was suspicious of Judge since he first saw her. She just gives off the vibe of untrustworthiness."

"Understandable."

"So, what now?" I asked. pulling Jeff's white hood over his head, obscuring his sightless eyes.

"Make out session?"

"BEN! No!"

"Aww, why not?"

"I'm a taken woman."

"By a dead person."

"He won't be dead for long."

"Maybe."

"Okay, everyone. Candypop, go gather some firewood. Toby, go with him."

"Yes, sir," they responded in unison as they trotted off east.

"And I need the Puppeteer and Zalgo to go hunting for food."

"On it," the Puppeteer said, already heading north. Zalgo followed behind.

"Now, we wait," Slender announced, leaning against a tree.

"(Y/N)."

"Yeah?" I turned to see Nurse Ann. I wondered how she knew my name, but I didn't ask.

"I checked on your boyfriend, Jeffery, and I'm not sure even potions can bring him back. Once a person is dead for a certain number of days, even the strongest of potions or medical help can't resurrect them."

"I understand, but we have to try. I can't let my bae die for good."

"Something else. Don't trust Judge Angels. Not only is she my archenemy, but she's a liar. We need to eliminate her ASAP."

"Yeah, Slender and I are suspicious of her."

"It's good that you are."

"Hey, ladies. The boys are back with some firewood," Homicidal Liu came up.

"Okay," we walked over to where everyone was. A fire was already started. It warmed me instantly from the cool night air. It had to have been in the low thirties.

I looked to see Jeff's body a couple of yards away. I pulled his body closer to the fire as if to warm him, although not too close.

BEN must've noticed my hurt expression because he came and sat by me.

"You okay?"

"No... my true love is dead and I kissed his best friend."

"Well-"

"And not only that but my crave to kill something is coming up."

"Well, that sucks."

"Ya think?"

"Yes, I think. Actually, I know. I've had Jeff kill my family that I didn't want dead."

"That sucks."

"More than sucks."

"Yeah."

"Who wants to burn the body?" Judge Angels asked, almost sarcastically.

Almost.

"Oh hell naw. You ain't burnin' my dead boyfriend!" I retorted. Everyone seemed to agree with me.

"Fine, I guess I'll do it myself," she said as she started toward Jeff's body.

I instinctively got in front of it, protecting it with my life. "Oh, no you don't."

"Oh, yes I do. We need to stop lugging a useless body around. I say we burn it and get it over with. Who's with me?"

Nobody raised their hand. As tempting as it was for some, they kept their hands down, thankfully.

I released a breath I realized I had been holding just as Judge Angels charged.

She rammed right into me, knocking me back a few steps.

But I remembered the training that Jeff had given me and used it.
