Tick tick tick
The watch that was given to me
Is starting to slow down
The life will leave its body
And soon won't make a soundTick tick tick
Every movement forcing its hand
Makes every second last longer
Like an hour glass with grains of sand
Of which it grows ever fonderTick tick tick
Should I replace the battery
Or just toss it in the trash?
Should I replace the memory
With something that won't last?Tick tick tick
No matter where I place it
I can hear the sound
It's insistent tick tick tick
It dogs me like a houndTick tick tick
I sometimes wish I couldn't hear
And forget the sound it makes
For hearing it will bring a tear
And cause my heart to acheTick tick tick
But I know if I were to forget
I'd never live again
I wouldn't even know regret
Of something that beganTick tick tick
So please continue tick tick ticking
For at least a while more
It'll beg my brain to keep on thinking
Of the girl that I adoreTick tick tick
