Funny How Things Work Out

My girlfriend and I have been dating for a while now

And I always love bringing up the fact

That the first time I asked her out to lunch

She said yes

And at the end of class

She said she wasn't able to go

I remember thinking

"Damn, that sucks"

So I gave up

I thought she wasn't interested

I thought she only said yes to get me off her back

So I continued on with my life

Until she approached me, while I was reading a book

That was about 2 years ago, and we've been together ever since

One of the most recent times when I brought it up

She actually confessed something to me

"You know, when I saw you walk into class

With your dyed hair, piercings and tattoos

I thought to myself, imagine if he were my boyfriend?

Then I fantasized about it for a few minutes

Then I said, 'Na, that would never happen.'"

How funny how everything works out
