I try looking for a reason

To talk to you

I am trapped inside of a social construct

I think about the weather

Nothing but heat and wind

I think about the date

No holiday plans?

I think of our lives

Same old same old

I think of our pets

Yup, still barking and sleeping

I just cannot find a good enough reason

Because I know your time is valuable

And I would hate to waste it talking about

Something we both know
