I love the messages
That my readers like to send
It makes me happy knowing that my work
Has brought feelings into your heart
I wish I could show the world
Alas, that is not yet possible, and honestly
I fear it will never happen
When you look at writers such as
Sylvia Plath or Edgar Allan Poe
Their works were not read
Until they were beyond us
Is it selfish to strive for more?
Is it wrong to want to be alive?
To want to see the faces and reactions
Of those who have been moved?
I do not want to be a martyr
I do not want to be remembered
I want to be acknowledged
I want to die knowing
I meant something to someone
