Not So Simple

You hear it all the time

"Young people don't know what love is"

And I used to agree with them

But the more I think about it

The more I realize that it's actually untrue

You see, in the adolescent mind

Love is something strong and pure

Because that's what we've been taught

Either in movies or books or music

Of course, it is a lot more than that

But as a child, I believed that I knew

I have "loved" a few people

But the thing is, I didn't know how to react

The fact of the matter is

I could have been with anyone of them

If she or I knew how to act accordingly

Love isn't just live through the good

And give up on the bad

And in my mind

As soon as it got bad, I would flee

No, love is not as simple as that

Young people do know what love is
