Chapter Twenty Six

            Hindi ako makapagsalita habang nasa harap ni daddy. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin dito. Halatang nagdududa na siya tungkol kay Aliyaah.

            "Ilang araw na akong gising pero ni isang beses hindi siya nagpunta dito. This is very unusual. Ano ba talaga ang nangyayari? May hindi ba kayo sinasabi sa akin?"

            Tumingin ako kay Yohan na nakatayo lang di malayo sa pinto.

            "Please tell me what's happening, Isabella. What happened to Aliyaah? Bakit hindi siya nagpupunta dito?"

            Sasabihin ko ba sa kanya? Pero paano kung hindi niya kayanin ang maririnig? Paano pag may mangyari sa kanya? I ran out of excuses to tell him. He will find out one of these days kung anong nangyari kay Aliyaah. He's recovering really fast and ilang araw mula ngayon ay makakalabas na siya.

            "We have to tell him the truth, Bella." anang si Yohan.

            Kumunot ang noo ni daddy. "What truth?"

            Humugot ako ng malalim na hininga. Bahala na. I'll tell him the truth. That's only rightful.

            "A-Aliyaah is in another hospital, dad." nanginginig ang boses kong wika.

            "What is she doing here? What happened to her???"

            Hinawakan ko ang kamay nito. "You have to calm down, okey?"

            "How can I calm down?? Aliyaah is not here and you're telling me he's in a hospital! What happened to her??"

            "She... She tried to killed herself...--"

            Mapaklang tumawa si daddy. "What do you mean?? Why would she do that??"

            "It's a long story, dad. She's in a hospital right now but she's recovering and the baby's fine."

            "No!! Aliyaah wouldn't do something like that! She wouldn't kill herself lalo na at dala-dala niya ang anak naming dalawa."

            Lumapit si Yohan sa amin. "What Isabella said was true, dad. Aliyaah tried to kill herself. She was devastated about your condition and the company's falling... Who'd love to live after that?--"

            "Yohan!" puna ko rito.

            "I'm just telling the truth, Bella. She must have seen what the Calleja's have done and got scared."

            Napatayo ako sa kinatatayuan ko. I looked at him unbelievably. Why would he say that?! He knows that was not what happened!!

            "That's not what hap--"

            "You were browbeated by those assholes, dad. You know what they can do. Malamang ay pinagpatuloy nila ang threats nila and she saw it. She lived alone in the house and we weren't able to monitor everything."

            Magsasalita na sana ako nang makitang napahawak si daddy sa dibdib niya. "D-dad? A-are you alright?" kinakabahan kong tanong dito. "Call the doctor!!" sigaw ko kay Yohan.

            I wanted to correct what Yohan said but he's not in the good condition to hear more at malamang ay mas lalo lang itong mastre-stress kung malaman niya kung ano ang ginawa ni Yohan. I'm so fucking baffled. How can he say that about the Callejas??! We both know that didn't happen at all!! I can't believe Yohan right now.

            Umalis ako sa tabi nito nang dumating ang mga nurses at doktor. Hindi ako mapirmi habang nakatingin sa kanila. Was it wrong I told him about Aliyaah?
